Oregon State University vegetable breeder Jim Myers.

cucumber beetles。昨天拔了几棵黄瓜和一棵丝瓜。一棵是因为完全蔫了，另几棵是叶
子上出现黄斑，有的还有可疑的白色霉菌样斑点儿。还有一棵甜宝也有不少叶子被咬的
很惨。用手抓的效果不好，一是因为它们会飞，另外高的地方够不到。有没有什么更有
效的办法呀？现在正在育秋黄瓜的苗。现在的黄瓜不敢全拔了，因为看网上说如果吃的
不够了，它们会去吃别的菜。
最怕的是它们从此在我这安营扎寨，年年都来这一出。请大牛们支招呀。 |

第一次听说的时候不免有点不得要领，除了内部押韵之外，这个说法到底想表达什么啊
。讲这个谚语的那个老美告诉我，此话是用来形容extremely calm and unruffled;
self-composed and poised; collected and imperturbable的情形的。我听完多少还
是似懂非懂云里雾里的，直到有那么一天，当自己亲手种出黄瓜之后，我才算能够领略
此谚语的真谛一二：不管种黄瓜的人如何心情浮躁一点都不cool，一旦开花坐果成功，
黄瓜每天就是要悄无生息拼劲生长的，一夜之间会惊人地窜长好几寸，世界上比它再酷
的植物怕是真的不多也！
嗯，Cool As Cucumbers，得窜改成复数才能形容我家最近的黄瓜真相 。今年把最好
的阳光宝地让给了黄瓜，一共种6棵，2棵北京刺黄瓜，4棵东北旱黄瓜。种菜就是要上
规模，数量多了，产量不高都不行------还是依我定下的低标准。

2-3 Medium Cucumbers
7-10 Dried Shiitake Mushrooms (or other desired dried mushroom)

其实我是个强硬派的妈妈，但有时我发现当强硬不起作用的时候
软弱一下反而有意想不到的效果，比如你可以说
哎呀，妈妈英语不好，你能不能说中文啊？妈妈听不太懂你说的
妈妈英语不好，你可以照顾一下妈妈，跟妈妈说中文吗？
8点上床可真早啊，我家是9点睡觉，教育也没有天天干，经常就是傻玩
还有，做饭可以简化一下，洗碗也可以换成洗碗机，你家现在是特殊情况，能简化就简化
我们孩子学习中文不应该只是局限在桌子上和书上
我们父母本身就是最大最好的中文学习工具，多跟孩子说话就好了
比如我炒菜的时候，就可以说
牛牛，妈妈在炒黄瓜 cucumber,黄瓜 cucumber,黄瓜 cucumber
自言自语的重复，并不需要孩子的回应，放心，孩子他听见了
不说中文就不给答复，其实有点耗时又耗力
比如孩子要果汁的时候，你可以用中文重复3遍。
