并把NON－DEGREE下修的学分转入master program。
学校iss说这种在F2身份下修degree oriented学分的做法(虽然修课的时候是non-
degree的名义)可能对将来申请H1B和绿卡造成麻烦。
请问这种情况可能吗？我以前也见过其他F2先以non-degree修学分，等正式转成full
time student后，把这些学分转到正式的degree program里。没听说有不妥的。
大家有类似经历吗？ 多谢了！ |

2. If your friend already has a master degree from any engineering
major, there is no need to get 2nd master degree.
A Master Degree is a Master Degree.
Do Not waste TIME nor money on a 2nd master degree.

一方面又把DICKSON以First Degree murder起诉？
从目前调查情况看来可能的结果：检方根本拿不出证据证明DICKSON是First Degree
murder，因为First Degree murder是预谋杀人，但是这个案子显然不是预谋的，如果
是，他不会在被一个旁观者在视频上看见他和柳肢体冲突后还杀人，肯定是“激情杀人
”，应该是man slaughter或second degree murder，即非预谋性的。这样才能证明。
然后如果检方拿不出证据证明DICKSON的First Degree murder，他就会被无罪释放。注
意这从来是检察官政府方面的一个计策，故意以不可证明的罪名起诉，然后宣布无罪以
后就不可以再起诉他，因为有double jeopardy 的法律。
警察做的很多事都是相互矛盾的很可疑。为什么没有柳被性侵犯的检验，就说她没有被
性侵犯。
哪里有没有基本预谋杀人的证据就起诉预谋杀人？还要直接说没有证据。 |

lawyer will do that for you--send your diploma to an evaluation agancy to
check if your degree is equal to the BS degree in US. Don't worry. it will
always be equal to a US degree:-) Then just do H1B with it. At least it's
no problem for me. I got my H1B with aChinese BA degree. |

conferral是5月份，4月1号就要申请h1b了。学校出具了degree certificate letter:
"This letter is to
certify that XXX has completed all requirements to receive a Doctor of
Philosophy in .... from ... university. Conferral date of the degree is May
XXX, 2013....." 这样的情况，能算作CAP H-1B U.S. Master's Degree or Higher 么

念CS MS，只上课不做thesis的program。Degree plan 要求是30学分，其中要有1学分
seminar；CPT的1学分不能算在30里（就是因为一开始没注意这个所以出了麻烦）。
GF 去年暑假找到了intern，申请一次CPT。之后在同一个公司，去年FALL的时候做part
time，又申请一次CPT。这样CPT 一共拿到2学分。
然后想着2学分CPT，加上1学分seminar，加上9门课（27学分），刚好30学分够毕业。
并且file 了degree plan，去年8月的时候系里小秘，graduate advisor，学校OGS通通
批准。满心欢喜等着今年5月毕业。期间拿到同一公司offer，2月份申请了OPT，reduce
work load（因为最后一学期只差seminar），graduation。
结果今天突然收到小秘邮件，说不能毕业，因为刨去CPT的2学分不够30学分，所以不能
毕业，要求cancel graduation application。

发帖数: 1430 | 14 就是凭这一条，让每年里成千上万印度的或真或假的EB3成功的upgrade到了EB2.
而移民法又规定他们可以保留PD. 所以才使得他们能够消耗掉大量的EB2类绿卡。
即使印度人的PD不动连续好几个月，他们也能消耗掉自己的将近全年的名额！可怕啊！
我们怎么才能改变或者是废除这个Bachelor's degree + 5 years experience =
Advanced degree的规定呢？这个才真正是是罪魁祸首。
在美国, advanced degree包括Master's degree和PhD.
也许Bachelor+5 years experience所做的工作性质和Master's degree有些相像。但是无论
如何和PhD是不具有可比性的。他们这里的5年工作经验就能把Bachelor 等同于 Master
等同于 PhD是非常, 非常荒谬的做法！ |

但是昨天email一个law school的小蜜，她说我没有1st law degree的话，不能读LLM和
JSD，但是可以先去读JD
学校网页和Wiki看了半天也不太明白，哪位好心人解释一下吧
1.LLM和JSD是graduate degree，LLB是under degree。 JD是什么level的呢？
2.我没有law degree，有一个其他专业的master。想读law是不是只能从JD读起？

来是想申请Master of Fine Art(MFA), 但很多美国艺术学校对托福分数蛮高的，本来
我英语也不好，但又想早点出国，年纪大了。
所以不知道国内已经上过本科了还能不能在美国申请Associate Degree， 如果能申请
的话上了一年后不知道能不能转学，一般Associate Degree学两年，我想借着学
Associate Degree的时候提高英语和学习一些专业的基础知识，然后再试着申请研究生
学位。

只能等到fall申请明年spring semester的degree petition，
请问这样没有degree petition的情况下能不能申请OPT，然后明年1月开始工作？

失效，你需要重新申请post-OPT。这可能要3个月。
post-OPT 必须在completion of degree以后,这个日期各个学校规定可能不同，我们这
这个date是在你提交论文initial draft到研究生院这天算起。这个日期跟defense
date和graduate date以及degree date不一样。
defense date答辩日期
graduate date毕业典礼的日期
degree date拿到证书的日期
你可以问一下你们研究生院和国际学生办公室。你现在就要毕业了，可惜申请不了CPT
，否则可以用CPT马上上班，然后准备毕业同时申请post-OPT。这样下来时间安排的好
，gap不大。 |

I understand the meaning of dimensionality, etc, and why we call it degree
of freedom.
What puzzled or amazed me is this: in many estimators, when we adjust for
degree of freedom, then we get an unbiased estimator. A simple example is
the unbiased estimator for std has divisor N-1 instead of N where N-1 is the
degree of freedom. I can go through the algebra, but the question is: what
intuition explain that the role of degree of freedom? Or is it just another
example of the grace of math? |

我现在打算2018年Spring去UC extension school读certificate program，便宜，9个
月就可以毕业拿到OPT，但只提供一年OPT，因为这是certificate项目，不是degree。
所以Timeline是，2018年12月拿到certificate，估计2019年2月启动OPT， 如果能找到
sponsor H1B雇主，2019年4月就可以H1B抽签了。到2020年2月我的OPT就会过期。
现在问题就是，2020年2月过期后，我如何想办法做OPT extension呢？
因为我2017年秋开始读Georgia Tech online CS Master，最后会拿到货真价实的MSCS
，而且在2020年2月之前我怎么样也肯定拿到了。但因为是online项目所以不提供OPT。

读完Ph D才能再用Ph D OPT

我有master degree，在这家公司快2年了
不知道有没有可能file EB2？

在关于JD的解说页面上，倒是有这么一句话
