发帖数: 14569 | 2 对Design Pattern的理解，是需要天份。Eric Gamma在一次采访里说，design pattern
不适合用来当教材学，所有的pattern都是你在大工程里体会到那种design pain的时候
，被逼出来的。
如果你都没有体会到痛，说明你的项目可能根本不需要这些pattern. 添加上去属于浪
费。
换句话说，在你没有痛之前，就远见卓识地预见到了，恭喜你，你确实比较有天份。
如果你觉得那些pattern没什么用，说明你的直觉跟很多人一致，不是什么错。
对系统设计的理解，我的感觉是：很难装，没有切身的体会，你从教科书上学来的，或
者背下来的，几句话就会被高手问穿。
我曾经以为很理解所有的pattern, 因为每一个我都知道它说的什么意思，我都可以给
你举出例子。但是具体到工程里的时候，它们并不是象血液一样自然流动，我就知道，
其实我没有真懂，它们没有融汇到我的血液里去。
最难的一点是，design pattern就象我们学数学一样，需要大量的练习。但是通常的公
司环境里，有几个人，有这种练习的机会呢？
对于那种拿着那本书读完，就能真懂的人，我很佩服。 |

I need do some SQL server query design.
For doing the same query, there may be many different kinds of query design.
But, I need to learn which kinds of query design/implementation are optimal
for performance.
Could anybody recommend some books/publications to learn how to do that ?
Any help would be appreciated. |

发帖数: 7160 | 8 1.出题的都是high title，至少architect，一色儿三哥。
2.题目至少Architecture级的，白板上画几个圈儿，高度抽象，语焉不详。
3.问题都是over years的体系结构问题，神都说不清楚 - 啥答案都可以对，也都可以
错，主观性太强。
4.老中应试刷题是强项，做对了总不能说错。想坑老中只能上这类说不清道不明的玩意
儿去稀释Coding题挣到的Credit。而且Design题的比例有加大之趋势。
5.老中普遍英语一般，不善忽悠，尤其被三哥搞这个全无心理优势。
哥这把估计又要跪了,因为coding做得还行，所以八成栽在这design上。
sigh...
PS: 其实以往的design，OO style的电梯停车场啥的，要求评价十分real tangible，
比直接design sever/service这类玩意儿更fair。但显然因为老中还能答上几句，人家
已经弃之不玩儿了。 |

在下EE phd+5年业界analog IC design工作经验。
看到本版码公来报offer，对比一下自己的工资，非常落寞有没有。
刚毕业时工资水平可能比cs低一点，但差距有限。现在眼看着收入差距越来越大。
其实在现在公司里过得也马马虎虎，行业内比较的话混得算还行。
两耳不闻窗外事的话其实日子也能过。
但感觉我可能真的错过了时代发展的潮流。
人生在世要找准风口，我们这块儿风好像已经过去了。
模拟芯片行业可能从80年代到2010年是一个飞速发展的年代。
现在可能真的机遇已经过去了。
公司内新招的designer几乎全都在印度/中国，前辈们也不退休，几年内看不到机会升
design manager。感觉有点像温水煮青蛙。
在下三十出头，绿卡快到手。
请问有没有IC design转过CS的大侠进来说说指点下。
大龄转CS起步的话能找到啥level的工作？
有什么建议。。。

求冷水，求板砖，求高人点醒。
不转的话，唯一能找到收入有较大提高的办法是找apple的职位要么考虑回国看看。 |

现在market上面聚集了无数的小散户，给人做做freelance什么的，生意有一搭无一搭
，主要靠互相压价恶性竞争；上面又有很多专业design公司压着，从design到hosting
一条龙服务，摄影video， marketing 都不是freelancer能比的上的。下面又有几乎
free的现成模板可以用，稍微钻研一下就可以自己搭一个网站起来。
所以我觉得这个business 80%或者更多，还是得靠marketing，尤其是这种需要不断找
下家的business model, 比起web design+服务来说，更加难做。
现在还没想出来啥好点子。。。就不去了

如果单独做web design的话，elance或者99 design上面找个graphical designer就可
以。
但网站都是根据business的变化而需要长期维护的，所以建议最好找个靠谱的designer
长期联系着，有需要改动网站的时候，就让他/她去做。这样风格可以保持一致，上手
还快。比不断换人维护强。

去好的设计学院，学东西是其一，最重要是人脉。没人脉，没家底，跟设计圈混真的不
容易，除非你特别有才华，机会还特好，尤其是fashion design的圈子。就算是有人脉
，你还要特别的努力，因为几乎每个设计师都是工作狂，你不努力很快就被甩掉，基本
都是每天至少12小时的工作量，整夜整夜的做东西就是设计学院的正常生活
NYC好的设计学院很多，学fashion design FIT是很不错的选择，老牌子的口碑专门的
fashion design 学院。Parsons这几年发展很快，connection很多。学费算是几个有名
学府里比较贵的，但其实都差不多，2年的MFA，最基本生活费＋学费，差不多也就11，
12w美元也就够了。但是fashion design最大的开销是材料费。。。你要做个什么皮草
设计，钱就跟长了腿似的很快跑没。话说回来，什么设计专业的材料费都挺多的，大概
除了digital相关的设计好些，什么产品设计的模型费，室内设计的模型费，平面设计
的印刷费等等。。。国内还好些，这些基本材料都还挺便宜的。美国随便一张大些的卡

门槛低，上不上四年本科都不重要，专科学校都行，学学graphic design软件，够 攒
出个好portfolio就行了。再自学一些HTML， CSS， JavaScript就更好了。ux, ia的东
西自己看看书能忽悠就齐活儿了。 |

简单说就是为一个特定的用户群设计一款强力的产品.
当这个产品投入市场以后，期待获得在其他领域其他用户群的carryover效应。
iphone的游戏性能是个典型的carry over。但是carry over始终是carry over。
apple不会太为了这个carryover去做太多的design也就注定了这个游戏平台没有long
term的commitment.会有很多厂商来试水。但是在apple没有退出一个专门为游戏而生的
feature以前，没有人会take it seriously. |

I like this one very much. I read the first edition cover to cover. It is
not as dry as GOF. Design pattern in many case are one step over OO, and
this book does a good job to explain this. If you are not that good at OO,
this will give you a good refresh and in-depth review as well.
It is also in Java. |

the duck example at the beginning of "head first" looks childish...
those interview questions such as "design a poker deck", "design an
elevator", "design an animal kingdom", "design a parking lot" etc also
looks too general to start with. |

is "low coupling". You want to extend later without changing current classes,
or you want two related classes getting modified without knowing the other.
There are certain ways to do it.
Now when to apply design pattern? First when you design the architecture,
you see an extension needed, you see two function groups that should be
independent, etc. That's when you should consider using these patterns.

那些所谓的linux kernel design pattern的书，估计都是其他人看到设计以后，生搬
硬套design pattern进去的。
其中有个著名kernel的作者，是澳大利亚的麻醉师，这种人才不会有兴趣学什么design
pattern，他估计只是业余时间添砖加瓦，能让他设计的部分工作就行了 |
