NILFS2 (New Implementation of a Log-Structured File System Version 2)是一种
很有希望的日志结构文件系统，它能对整个文件系统做连续性的快照（NILFS中叫
checkpoints）和进行版本管理。用户可以恢复删掉的文件，可以挽救不小心修改的档
案，但不必像传统的做快照那样，付出效能的代价。此外，有证据显示，NILFS在SSD上
效能极佳！日志结构文件系统跟树状文件系统不同的是：它不会把数据或数据与日志写
到b-tree或h-tree，它会把所有数据与元数据依序写入一个连续流（continuous
stream)，这个流就称为log。因为是依序写入的，所以寻找时间会很短，改善了写入速
度。这种结构使得日志结构文件系统很容易做它的数据与元数据的快照，崩溃恢复也比
