Goldman's Incredibly Depressing Predictions for 2016
by Stephen Gandel

November 25, 2015, 1:23 PM EST
No holiday cheer for investors this year.
In a research note out this week, Goldman Sachs’ top strategists predict
that stocks will once again disappoint next year. Goldman predicts the S&P
500 will go nowhere in the coming year, ending 2016 at 2,100. The stock
market index is already at 2,090. Include dividends and Goldman predicts
that stocks will return just 3% in 2016...

Geeks venture into Goldman Sachs' world of big deals and egos
Technology whizzes who helped Goldman Sachs (GS.N) eliminate hundreds of
trading jobs over the past few years are venturing into the bank's flagship
M&A business, making some junior bankers uneasy.
A team of 75 programmers, internally referred to as "strats," has been
developing technology to make Goldman's elite dealmakers more productive.
That team within investmen...

For Goldman, a Bet’s Stakes Keep Growing
By LOUISE STORY and GRETCHEN MORGENSON
For Goldman Sachs, it was a relatively small transaction. But for the bank
— and the rest of Wall Street — the stakes couldn’t be higher.
Accusations that Goldman defrauded customers who bought investments tied to
risky subprime mortgages have only just begun to reverberate through the
financial world.
The civil lawsuit that the Securities and Exchange Commission filed against
Goldman on Friday seemed

Market corrections come out of left field on unforeseen events like today’s
news on Goldman Sachs (GS).
As for Goldman Sachs, I briefly looked at buying some OTM puts but they were
too juiced already. Also, I've been a Goldman Sachs bull. But I would view
this news as something similar to an accounting problem and I generally
steer clear of that sort of issue no matter the company.
In fact, the only way I would enter a long on Goldman Sachs in the near term
would be a bull put spread with define

maybe this is endogenous, i.e., goldman's alumni's quality is higher on
average in the first place and they worked at goldman and then do better
anywhere else....
just like why so many presidents graduated from harvard, yale, etc...

see Goldman's alumni take one and another top positions at big banks these
days, and now their network influences both Wall St and US government. Would
anybody please explain why this happens? What did Goldman do right that

Goldman probably started rising in late 70s or early 80s. It is unlikely
that it was able to attract all the best talents back then. Most of these
big wigs graduated from Goldman in 90s or early 00s, so they possibly joined
in Goldman in 80s or early 90s when it was less prominent than today. This
is why I think that Goldman must have played an important role in
cultivating them.

Sergey Aleynikov, the former Goldman Sachs computer programmer found guilty
of espionage for stealing the firm’s code for high-frequency trading, had
his conviction overturned by a federal appeals court in New York. In a one-
page order yesterday, the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan told
the lower court to enter a judgment of acquittal, saying an opinion will
follow later. Aleynikov was convicted by a Manhattan federal jury in
December 2010 of violating the Economic Espionage Act and ...

Lloyd Blankfein is the chairman and CEO of Goldman Sachs. In 1869, a German-

later, the little commercial paper dealer celebrated its bar mitzvah by
