面试了。HC in-waiting是面试通过了的，有名分了，但是还没拿到实权。

教主对于把computer主要用来处理影音图形的狂热是广为人知的。早在Gates大量贩售
偷来的，残破的DOS的时代，教主的主要兴趣就是把苹果机发展到图形，游戏上。
在夺权矢败，离开苹果，自我放逐之后，教主的大动作是买下了Pixar。80年代的Pixar
与今天这个作动画片的studio是有天渊之别的。当时Pixar的主要biz是卖专业的图形计
算机（由此可见教主衷一不二的决心）。可惜，太高端的图形工作站的买家主要就是军
工和医学研究机构（还有Disney)，而且大多是有政府的contracts才花得起这个钱。这
部分biz最终自灭了。Pixar在做Toy Story时用的都是硅图的图形工作站。由此可见教
主也并不是什么商业天才。
教主的人生转折也是有偶然性的。其实Pixar一直是有商业做图，动画的业务的，不过
在硬件biz完蛋之前也没让教主太注意。随着硬件业务衰退，Pixar的图画部开始主动拉
一些广告动画，商业短片的生意，却没想到这部分生意越来越红火，到Toy Story出世
后，Pixar的大名已是威震环宇了。

前些天在这儿发表了关于我tenure denial的话题，感谢大家的建议和支持！
今天是provost给的主动辞职的最后一天，去跟她面谈，要求推迟做决定。没想到还没
等我开口，她主动提出一个delayed resignation的建议。即现在提出辞职，一年后生
效。我还可以工作一年。我的tenure case 也就不往董事会报了，也就不会有official
tenure denial了。看来她也感觉到自己做的不是很地道。
不知道该接还是不接？周五就必须做决定，接了就不能再appeal了，有委屈只能肚里咽
。不接，打官司也未见得能赢。系主任做了很多违背faculty handbook的事，像是推迟
