military airport in eastern Afghanistan on Monday, officials said, the
latest bloodshed since copies of the Koran were burned at a NATO base last
week.
There was no official indication the explosion at the gates of Jalalabad
airport was linked to the deadly protests, but the Taliban claimed
responsibility for the attack as "revenge" for the Koran burnings.

crashed in eastern Afghanistan as it was approaching the airport in
Jalalabad, officials said.
A defense official told ABC News that there were a total of 11 passengers on
the aircraft -- six crew members and five passengers who were contractors.
The official said there were at least an additional three Afghan locals who
were killed on the ground as a result of the crash.
