记得当初在牛黑蚊时常去一家旧书店，在Whitney Avenue上、Trumbull
和Grove之间，也时常有些旧书白送。那家店似乎和Bryn Mawr College
有些干系，号称所有利润都用于Bryn Mawr奖学金。多年之后，不知是否
还在。

一个花园里的喷泉里裸泳，由此就形成了一个传统，每年bryn mawr都有一个may day(

不一样，费城是古都（按美国的标准算）；天津近百年发迹以后也是
几度直辖几度河北省辖，从来没有过政治中心的地位。
另外费城是有文化的地方，除了U Penn，还有很多著名的文理学院，
比如Swathmore，Bryn Mawr, Bucknell和Villanova等等，
以及许多精美的博物馆。天津的天大南开江河日下一百年，其它学校
就更不足道了。
费城背后是地大物博财大气粗的宾夕法尼亚州，面朝大西洋；天津周边
是“环首都贫困带”，地下水采尽，地表土污染，渤海已经是死海一般。 |

近日美国名校提前录取放榜, 几家欢喜几家愁. 很有必要重温教育界一个很
甜的鸡汤: 两个美国著名的经济学家Stacy Dale 和 Alan Krueger利用跟踪近20年的数
据, 得出结论学生的实力和斗志而不是去哪个学校决定了他将来的收入.
在美国, 被名校录取的学生大约有35%的人因为种种原因选择去了低些层次的

独立屋, 4卧2 full卫, 1 Half， 厨房 (5 年新，大理石面），饭厅，Living room,

If I remember correctly, the average faculty salary of top LACs (Amherst,
Swarthmore, Williams) is higher than that of ivies.

Weierstrass完全是19世纪的人物，他那时的学术环境跟现在完全不同。
Morgan生于1866年，24岁的时候（1890年） was appointed associate professor (
and head of the biology department) at Johns Hopkins' sister school Bryn
Mawr College。完全是早慧天才，我敢说本班没有一个拿到associate professor比他
早的。你说他的诺奖工作做出来的比较晚，却不提绝大多数人活到90岁也做不出诺奖工
作，当然年轻的时候也做不出来。

买了之后你都会喜欢的。静下心来定下几条自己在意的要求，心里有个准，找起房子来
不会拿不定主意。
买房子有句老话：location、location、location。除了location外其它的都可以改变
。比如前面有人说了stucco的问题，这就不是个问题。一面墙，敲了装siding，二千以
内应该搞得定。这和房价比起来实在不算什么。
买房不是终身大事，住几年再卖换好的很平常。在这个区买房子不可能血本无归，不用
太担心。参考参考附近的售价和估价，Zillow上都有。 |

experience, I have my own recovery room, good meal plan, and good OB and
doctor. But the nurses are so pushing for breadfeeding and she refuses to
allow me to put my baby in the nursey room in the second night. She said I
should take care of my own baby during the night. |

发帖数: 13586 | 48 I was also in Bryn Mawr Hospital. Everything is good. Yes, that nurse is
very pushy for breast feeding, but it turns out her way works well in
getting earlier breast milk. The only concern is that they don't give the
baby anything to eat/drink in the first two days except let him suck the
breast. |
