There are some nanomaterials, which change their volume a lot in some
conditions. I hope to coat some sort of nanofilms on their surfaces to
constraint this expansion to keep the volume constant or greatly reduce this
volume change. Maybe some kind of ceramic, such as carbide or oxide. What
is the most accurate term to describe this property? Is there any review
paper on such properties of nanofilms?

Not very care about your question, but I feel you just need the strength,
yield or tensile, for the nanofilm. How to measure it is another thing.
