national park，在哪住一晚，第二天游览半天时间，中午又出发向黄石开，路上再开6
.5小时，也就是差不多晚饭时到黄石。这样安排可行么？主要不知道glacier national
park游玩半天够么？ |

拿了national champ
那几个名字一个比一个熟悉，brian su就是前几天有人贴了youtube视频拿个双股球拍
的，andy chang就是成天组织我们ladder比赛，组织club drill的
就他们每周一老在那round robin，07年就5.0 national champ了，难怪老子看得眼花
缭乱觉得厉害呢
我问andy andy还说要参加round robin至少要3.5以上，搞得我以为3.5 4.0就都那么牛
了呢，误解，误解啊

National，如果在他们自己的级别，能进的可能性低不说，没有厉害到队长会挑选他去

今天的目的地是几十英里外的Guadalupe National Park，到达的第一件事，先在
passport上盖戳，注销Guadalupe National Park．这个公园比较怪，没有一个正式的入
口，要想走不同的trail还得在主干路180上奔波．每走一个trail要付一次钱，填表，然
后把钱自己自觉附上，投到小箱子里．我们因为持有annual pass只要填表，把annual
pass号码写上，不用再付钱．和ranger探讨后，决定根据我们的时间，只走McKittrick
Canyon的trail的一段，走到Pratt Cabin．
我们选了离visitor center很近的Pine Spring营地宿营，一晚４元，没有洗澡的地方．
搭好帐篷后，直奔这McKittrick Canyon trail．这McKittrick Canyon 周遭5000多英母
的地是由Wallace Pratt及家人于1960年捐给National Park Service的．这里是Pratt及
家人，朋友summer retreat的度假场所．当时这里更加漂亮，流水潺潺，两 |

今天的最终目的地是White Sands National Monument．顺着１８０西一直到El Paso，Ｉ
－１０南到Las Cruces，转到７０南上，就到了White Sands National Monument了．１
８０上有一段路特别漂亮，路面是红褐色的石子轧成的，右面是大片的白沙，正好前放有
一辆红色的小车．蓝色的天，红色的车，褐色的路，白色的杀，绿色的草，相映成趣，煞
是好看．只是白沙这一段不是很长，而且只有一个地方可以停车，我们以为不只一个地方
可以停车，结果错过了拍照的大好机会．
到达White Sands National Monument才１点钟，四下一看，感觉好荒凉呀．附近只能看
到Visitor center的建筑．走进去问工作人员露营情况，结果这里只提供一个未经开发的
开发的营地，而且要把自己背帐篷和食物背进去，帐篷就搭在沙子上．里面的ＬＡＤＹ说
昨天有一个人登记了，今天还没有人登记，如果我们决定在此露营，只要在他们下班之前
登记就可以了．于是我们订了７点的免费有人带领的沙地游．Visitor Center里面还有一

2006年的圣诞节期间，去Las Vegas及其附近公园连同来回路程玩了5天，除了第二天在
Las Vagas当地闲逛，4天里，一个人开了1340 miles。
到了Las Vegas第3天，驱车前往在Utah南部的Zion National Park。事先对这个公园没
有多少了解，从地图上看也就很小的一片公园标志。既然离得不是很远，将来特意跑一
趟，肯定不值得去，而且对在Las Vegas赌博和城市风景不是很在意的我，更喜欢到大
自然里去散步。
早上8点半，离开住的旅馆MGM Grand Hotel，沿着I－15高速奔向Zion National Park
。途径三个州，NV，AZ和UT。进入UT之后，根据指示，转到9号公路。过了Springdale
，也就进入了国家公园。在地图上看Springdale，以为是个不小的小城 |

看national网站上写可以用异国驾照租车，
但是又写如果驾照上语言非英语，则需要同时持国际驾照。
中国是没有国际驾照的。
不知能否租车？
另，我是新的中国驾照，
上面有效日期、出生日期等栏目都有对应英文，
这些栏目的内容也只是简单的yyyy-mm-dd，所以应该可以看懂。
但是姓名，性别等项目名称虽然有英文翻译，
可是项目内容却是全中文，
包括有效期限，也是写的“6年”，
不知会不会有问题。
有没有人只用中国驾照成功租车过，在national？ |

实不小，但是national本身价格就很昂贵。折扣下来钱居然和budget差不多的。

本应该升级成national park的，只是因为旁边的导弹基地才没升级。
我是这个公园跟东边的Carlsbad Caverns National Park一起去的。这两个地方不是太
近，不过还可以接受，而且一黑一白对比强烈，具体可以参看我的游记。
白沙旁边是世界上第一颗原子弹爆炸的地方，如果对此有兴趣可以去参观。不过爆炸现
场似乎一年之开几天，呵呵。 |

美西大环线（The Grand Circle)地区的盛夏那真叫盛夏，亚利桑那的凤凰城和内华达
拉斯维加斯今年最高温度都到过47度。炎炎夏日美西火红的地貌只能用残酷来形容，哪
儿也去不了。但认真研究了一下天气地图，从雪松城开始，直到潘桂奇到托里一带高原
地区在盛夏都只有二十几度，非常凉爽。于是周末决定去高原避暑。第一站雪松残岭。
雪松残岭离拉斯维加大约3个小时的距离。200个迈。我们的安排是在雪松残岭（Cedar
Breaks National Monument）看完日落，开40多分钟山路到Panguitch潘圭奇夜宿，第
二天一大早去Bryce看日出。Cedar Breaks应该算高原上最高的一个景点，看日落非常
冷，很多人裹着军大衣，或者大浴巾。Cedar Breaks非常小，就那么一个小平台，断层
下面不能下去。和Bryce比应该是这里的日落、野花和星空比较独特。其他的Bryce都能
看到，如果不是拍照的话，没必要专门来这里，直接去Bryce就行。

长周末闲来无事，决定出去开车兜兜风，开的远点儿来个road trip，别把一个周末在
家都浪费掉了。去哪儿呢，因为还从来没有去过Big band national park, 于是就把它
初定为目的地。上网做了点调查，才发现因为天热现在是淡季，没什么人去。一看天气
预报那里周末都是90多度，想想别去了把自己烤糊了，有些打起了退堂鼓。但转念一想
，最初不就是想兜风来个road trip吗，所以公园如果热得没法呆，最差就兜个圈开回
来呗。于是上网定旅店，结果虽说淡季却在离公园比较近的Alpine订不到房间，只能在
远一些的Fort Stockton定到，离公园有100迈多，定了一夜。

不知道有没有人和我类似，不想太沉重，不想太专业，但同样也不想太狗血，不想太快
餐，想找一些不错的小说，消遣时光的又能得到高水准作品的享受，同时苦于自己的英
文小说阅读刚刚起步，别说比较全面的了解当代小说界的概貌，就是从何处下手去找书
单也成问题。
这时候，一些和图书，小说有关的奖项，或许会一定程度上帮助我们理清个大概，在还
没有建立起自己喜欢的作家或作品名单之前，按图索骥，当个小学生，不见得是坏事。

第三天一早，沿着9号线，穿过 Zion 公园，向东，到89号线向北。然后经14号，奔向
在148号线上的 Cedar Breaks National Monument。
Cedar Breaks National Monument 海拔一万英尺。一路上都是高原景色，空气异常清
新透彻。148号线在冬天是封路的。

到达目的地后，沿着远足路径，来回走了5英里。在高处向下看去，景色非常壮观。

中途吃过午餐后，返回停车场，继续沿着148号线向北，然后上143向东，经过小镇
Panguitch不久，路过另一个景点，12号公路上的 Red Canyon。

类推，美国人填 american (以前也有点疑惑，american 难道不包括南美人吗？)
可以刚看到一个人的美国护照，上面的nationality （国籍）写的是 USA.
(中国护照没有nationality （国籍）一栏）。
所以糊涂了，到底是填 chinese, 还是 china？美国国籍呢？？ |

发帖数: 3525 | 50 2006年的圣诞节期间，去Las Vegas及其附近公园连同来回路程玩了5天，除了第二天在
Las Vagas当地闲逛，4天里，一个人开了1340 miles。
到了Las Vegas第3天，驱车前往在Utah南部的Zion National Park。事先对这个公园没
有多少了解，从地图上看也就很小的一片公园标志。既然离得不是很远，将来特意跑一
趟，肯定不值得去，而且对在Las Vegas赌博和城市风景不是很在意的我，更喜欢到大
自然里去散步。
早上8点半，离开住的旅馆MGM Grand Hotel，沿着I－15高速奔向Zion National Park
。途径三个州，NV，AZ和UT。进入UT之后，根据指示，转到9号公路。过了Springdale
，也就进入了国家公园。在地图上看Springdale，以为是个不小的小城，到了之后才发
现，基本上是除了一些motel和餐馆等的乡村小镇。沿着9号路，很快就到了公园的南入
口。门票$20，包括过tunnel fee。一个National Park Pass 也才$50，于是决定买个
一年的pass，这样到下一个Death Valley |
