大头是cdn的带宽。
netflix之前是跟三大cdn厂商购买带宽，但是后来netflix搞了一个open connect给isp
。software都是free的，isp 只需要买netflix设计好的服务器盒子。
通过netflix的origin 直接push 电影到isp的open connect 服务器，netflix减少了购
买大量cdn带宽的成本，isp也减少了cdn厂商到isp骨干网的压力。 |

netflix虽然便宜并能看很多电影电视，但是还是觉得从某些角度看，不如电视方便。
不过本人没用过netflix及类似的服务，说的不对的请纠正。
比如我看电视经常是忙了一天工作家务把孩子弄睡后，打开电视随便轻松一下，电视里
有啥我就找个喜欢的看，不用动脑筋挑来选去的还要下载。想看肥皂剧电影脱口秀新闻
按个键就成，DVR功能也很好用。另外电视广告大家都不喜欢但通过广告也可以了解一
些信息，比如又要上映什么新电影了等等，这些信息我都喜欢从电视里得到，因为可以
一边干事一边听电视，这比在网上看要方便。

如果你家用的是comcast的电视服务，你会有个网上账号，你可以用这个账户登录
xfinity网站，然后在里面看电视或者电影，跟netflix一样。不过这可比netflix强多
了，netflix里的都是些浪费时间的烂电影。
我需要问的是，似乎无论是netflix，或者comcast这种在线视频，都可以若干人在同一
时间在不同电脑上使用，这是怎么回事？
这意味着说我们可以共享吗？ |

能怪我，里面的好电影实在太稀有。
很多片根本没有印象看过，估计是点了一下没有仔细看也被记录到历史里了。以后一定
要先搜imdb以后再点（虽然我猜netflix的推荐算法里根本没有imdb评分这项，都是那
们那些genre狗屎）。
另外很多以前看过的好片子现在在netflix里搜已经搜不出来了，估计是片厂跟netflix
的合同到期了。但是The Taking of Tiger Mountain这样的巨献，估计会在netflix里
面存在很久。 |

做产品，做硬件没错是apple的强项，但是不要忘记真真让apple能走到今天的是itunes
和ipod,做content deliver是大方向，做硬件是为这个大方向服务的。
apple和netflix在content deliver上是显而易见的对手。
Netflix现在一家做大, blockbuster完了，hollywood video和其他几个小的video
chain都关门了，redbox这样的方式是走不大的，在online content deliver上，就是
apple/netflix/和大小几个cable video ondemand公司，现在netflix用app store为自
己拉客户， apple不想法儿把it给赶走是不行的

google 一下，seagate freeagent+ theater从某个版本以后就不可以刷固件了。因为
加了netflix，被要求加密固件。
PBO固件都是可以刷的，也没有netflix。如果以后加入netflix，应该就不会让刷了。
我也不知道对不对，大牛们出来说说？如果可以加netflix，是不是也就有可能不付钱
就可以看的方法了？其他的player，比如WDTV，是不是只要有netflix就不让刷固件？ |

vistors 比netflix多是必然的。然而就流量而言，netflix是youtube的两倍，估计也
比youku强。中国市场上最接近于netflix的是乐视，拥有大量中文片源的版权。中国市
场上英文片源的价格是比较便宜的，纸牌屋 netflix花了1亿买两个season，2013年
content budget 3Billion. 而号称拥有中国市场纸牌屋版权的搜狐，全年总共的版权
预算
不过7，8千万。
Reed Hastings提过中国是最难进入的市场。最大的原因还是盗版。百度当年跟谷歌竞
争，能上来很大一个原因就是整合了盗版资源，比如mp3搜索，而谷歌根本不敢搞。本

了吧？大概有个剧情梗概和pilot的样片？如果说只是先知道什么样的题材会比较受欢
迎，和后面真的拍出一个受欢迎的剧集，这之间的距离还很远。走过这段距离，数据分
析能够起到什么作用？
如果说netflix是通过在netflix上观影的数据分析，观众评价，观众给分等数据，来影
响剧情走向，演员角色设定等，那是很牛逼的。不过netflix现在应该做不到这一点。
在数据挖掘和数据分析这方面，netflix还是个小弟弟，上面说的google现在也做不到
。。。
另外，其实很多观众都指出了，对于他们来讲newer movie就是better movie，即使纸
牌屋没有拿到暧昧奖，只要做到你有别人没有，或者你比别人先有，这本身的意义就巨

任何内容都有个收视时间，有个价钱，对比的是这个比例。netflix追求的是最大化性
价比，而不是一味求新。不停淘汰性价比低的内容，购买性价比高的内容，是提高
margin的关键之一。
netflix是小，但只做这一块，技术能力很强。有个team在AWS上用GPU做ANN，相当的
cutting edge。

Verizon simply refuses to upgrade the connection to netflix unless being
paid. Netflix users ask and pay the download, if netflix has to pay again.
It's like USPS charges recipients too. Again, anywhere in the world ISP
doesn't have a monopoly, this doesn't happen.
It's verizon responsibility to ensure they have adequate devices to meet

时，对netflix来说收入都是一样的，而后者占的带宽可能还更多，当然你可以说
viewing time和是不是继续subscribe有关系

deck。至于这个culture好不好，各人看法不一，但是的确很有特点。福利待遇及升级
制度和别的公司很不一样。他们去年不跟我谈价钱，但是保证beat所有competing
offer，不过是不是真的这样我不知道。我跟他们说我对他们坚持不做广告的business

envaulted这个deal是说, 如果你吧netflix的月费charge到link的卡上, 那么每个月可
以有up to $5 的redbox的charge, 是100% 返现的. redbox的charge不需要和netflix
的charge在同一张卡上, 但是必须都是link的卡.
redbox一般是$1.2+Tax 租dvd, $1.5 +tax租蓝光. 游戏还没租过不过大概价钱也是差
不多的.
我已经弄了两个月了, 挺好的, 反正我家netflix是一直用的, 就当白给我$5 deal
bucks, 而且有时候去朋友家, 租张dvd一起看电影, 挺方便的 :) |

Netflix 上没有Jr. Nick 动画片了。
请问有别的公司提供类似于Netflix 的网上服务并且有Jr. Nick 动画片吗？

xfinity网站，然后在里面看电视或者电影，跟netflix一样。不过这可比netflix强多
了，netflix里的都是些浪费时间的烂电影。
我需要问的是，似乎无论是netflix，或者comcast这种在线视频，都可以若干人在同一
时间在不同电脑上使用，这是怎么回事？
这意味着说我们可以共享吗？ |

时在不同的机器/电脑里放。amazon instant video 只能一部机器里播放，如果要换到
其他电脑，要先把之前的关掉。还有, amazon 不支持手机电话 data, 只能 wifi.
Netflix 都可以。
不过有时候 amazon 有些剧比 Netflix 还新。 |
