，看上去做工就不怎么样。前后磨了一个月终于给我寄了个新的。这只是前话，与接下
来要说的没有直接关系。
我的这两个control arm，他们的客服和邮件回复都说只要把原来的control arm寄过去
，就可以返还$50刀（我打电话确认过，邮件里也没有提到需要original packaging）
，所以我用了一个装电脑的箱子小心包好了之后寄过去了，奇怪的是，我收到了如下邮
件。

chain tensioner坏了，这个属于设计问题，但是VWA最多只管part的钱，你如果能3000
刀修好，就算非常幸运的了。我在论坛上面看到的最多的发动机和变速箱全部换掉，一
共22000刀的bill，平均都有5000-6000刀。
大众就是这样的，我前些日子离合器坏了，也是属于设计问题，但是还是花了我一千多

先说两件事
1）来MITBBS的都是智商比较高的人，善于分析。如果碰巧有认识我的同学或者朋友猜
出来了我是谁，我恳请你们不要把我名字说出来就好。其实写这帖子主要是分享一些我
走错的路。以我当反面例子，大家可以更好的结合自己的情况做出判断。
2）有人问我MSN是多少，想交流一下。首先，我也喜欢交流。不过我没有MSN，我只用
QQ（我比较土）。另外我不太愿意在QQ上交流（包括我和我现在的一个合作伙伴也约定
了不在QQ上谈事），太费眼睛，脖子和手打字也累。最好的方式是面谈。北京欢迎你！

发帖数: 231 | 45 我的onsite interview中有这么两个one-on-one meeting, 当中，对方都非常郑重的对我说："I am not part of the search group people, so, just relax, make yourself comfortable, and feel free to ask me ANYTHING YOU WANT!!" 当然，我没有relax下来。毕竟其中一位还是主管国际项目的Associate Dean。
不过现在回想起来，还是搞不清楚这个"not part of the search" meeting的意义何在。请经验人士指教。 |

发帖数: 13752 | 48 挺好的事情。Part-time PhD不好读，花的时间可能很长，但你的情况不一样，已经有
做研究的经验，只是做研究的时间受限罢了。周末会要花很多时间在PhD研究上。和现
在单位的头好好谈谈。另外如果PhD课程没修完，学校有on-campus requirement吗？这
是要注意的地方。以前有人问过我读part-time PhD的事，后来就卡在这一条上了，学
校要求PhD至少在campus呆一年，但对方的工作在外地，不可能把工作放下来一年。 |

发帖数: 1 | 49 前面那个人回答的不够精确，正确答案在这， PhD degree的fulfilled requirements
，是系里的要求，不是你老板的要求，这一点系里的小蜜足够回答得了你的全部疑问，
你老板只负责research部分，至于你能否毕业获取学位，是系里说了算，也就是小蜜说
了算。老板只能管辖你research的那部分。
1，工作几年以后的，当作新人来对待。全部重新开始。
2，Courses work 根据各个学校各个系，自己来定，多少学分算够,分成几类
1）core courses
2) courses in depth （有些高端专业课只限于PhD参加的）
3) courses in breadth
各个学校各个系要求不一样， top 1的热门专业对breadth要求很高。记得至少两个跨
系的而且满足一定学分量的，不是选一门seminars上课打个瞌睡的那种课时。有些
breadth requirement会给划出有基础课的，那就累多了。
4）定量的weekly seminars一直持续到你毕业
每周至少一次，记住了，至少，通常是每周两到三次左右

不错。Part-time PhD能做下来的很少。能不能做下来，其实就是两个条件，一是本人
已经有做研究的经验和能力，二是导师和本人已经知道要做什么thesis topic，并且和
本职工作相关。这个贴子的情况，和楼主的情况，都是这样。否则，正常的PhD读下来
要4-5年，part-time就是8-10年了。
当年我遇到的case也是，对方已经是non-tenure track asscoiate professor，好文章
都发了一些，手上有funding，有自己的group，带几个master学生，和工业界有合作，
做个PhD thesis就是小菜一碟。这样的事情居然没有搞成，后来就再没遇到了。真要运
作的话，要去院里和研究生院找人，当时我自己还是AP，这方面的能量不足，经验也不
够。回头看看，还是挺可惜的。楼主的情况，是有希望的。 |
