someone else. It now looks like a weird situation may occur to Pfizer and
Ranbaxy. Pfizer's parent patent on Liptor is still valid, and will expire in
2009. however, Pfizer lost the claim 6 of their second patent, which expires
in 20011,therefore, they lost the suit against Ranbaxy.Between 2009-2011, both

最近在一个投行做实习，1月2号，我们就详细给我们的客户（各种基金）分析制药业的
前途，尤其是Pfizer。
我们当时的预测是：
一，是裁R&D 的人，因为Pfizer的R&D实在是太差了，而它现在的问题是2013年50%（销
售额）的专利就过期了，前期的R&D更本解决不了这个问题。只有裁员来提高现金流
二，然后就是Pfizer拿这些现金来干什么。它2009年尽现金收入将有230亿之多。发红
利是不错，但它现在的红利已经有7%了，是所有制药公司里最高的，但市盈率是最低的
，因为华尔街不高兴。Pfizer不可能2013年后就解体发现金了事。所以要让华尔街高兴
，它必须买别的公司
三，剩下的是买谁的问题。不能买太小的，因为这个公司必须能弥补2013以后Pfizer失
去的那50%销售额，所以要足够大才行。制药公司它可以买BMS或者Wyeth。买任何其他
的都不在华尔街考虑之列。买生物公司有Amgen。还有就是做防制药的Teva。
四，我们当时的分析是BMS不能买，Wyeth能带来更多的机会。Amgen可以买，但太贵。
Teva也可以买，但这个公司更贵（从市盈率角度）。

美国人，去了pfizer, NJ实习了一个summer,刚回来，今天和她聊了一个多小时，据她
说，现在化学招的比较少了，pfizer准备把化学都outsource出去，比如到中国,因为便
宜（她个人强烈不爽，因为她不原意去外国工作）而现在药厂形式真的很差，你能不能
呆到明年都不一定,她在几个月就走了不少,所以有绿卡还是保险很多。统计还不错，人
也不少，molecular modelling有一个小组，但人远远少于化学生物的。pfizer待遇不
错，刚进去的都有70K（Master最低level),有个人搬家还给了15K搬家费(美中到 NJ),
但公司裁人很狠，她说有个药到clinial trial失败了，公司损失8 million,把project
拿掉，所有和那个药有关的全裁了，包括化学合成，生物测试的。她觉得很荒唐，但公

Pfizer旗下有两个著名的抑制Cox-2的止痛(消炎)药：Celebrex和Bextra。其中的
Bextra风光没多久，就离开了Pfizer的Pipeline了。
Celebrex和Bextra都是特异性抑制Cox-2酶的止痛药。理论上，这类药物是通过特异性
地影响Cox-2的功能来达到消炎(止痛)的效果的，而且这类药不抑制Cox-1的作用。与特
异性抑制Cox-2的止痛药不同，市场上其他类型的止痛药比如著名的Advil是通过抑制
Cox-1来止痛、抑制Cox-2来消炎的。但是Cox-1同时也被认为对保护胃肠粘膜有正面作
用。非特异性抑制Cox-2的止痛药可能因为影响Cox-1而导致胃肠出血或者是溃疡。所以
对于本来就有溃疡或胃肠出血的病人来说，可能不宜吃这类的止痛药。抑制Cox-2的止

agreed to buy biotechnology company Embrex Inc, a specialist in vaccine-
delivery systems, for 17 usd per share or an aggregate 155 mln usd.
The acquisition is due to close in the first quarter of 2007, the companies
said.
Embrex reported revenues of 52.5 mln usd in 2005, up 8 pct year-on-year,
Pfizer said, with sales outside the US accounting for 37 pct of total

药物，CETP还不是一个validated target.而且medicinal chemistry对该cetp的研究并
不深入，出现这样的问题也不足为奇了。毕竟不象当年lipitor,都是statin类药物相当
成熟的时候Warner-Lambert研究的类似物，pfizer直接收购的。
我想pfizer还是太担心lipitor的专利失效的问题了，可是心急吃不得热豆腐阿!结果栽
了！
现在的情况很可能是torcetrapib的化合物本身的问题，从我的对结构的分析看不象
CETP这个target出了什么问题。JTT-705目前作为CETP inhibitor还在研究。 |

michigan可是几年前pfizer花大投入在原parke-davis的基础上建起来的
我记得连michigan的媒体上的宣传都强调从此成为drug research中心
pfizer pipeline上的几个新药也都是michigan site搞出来的
整个site都下马明显是政治斗争的结果。是新领导层对原来订下的strategy的推翻。
我猜是觉得是嫌pharmacia的烂摊子收尾太慢，
另外就是在美国搞research的收益不高

Pfizer旗下有两个著名的抑制Cox-2的止痛(消炎)药：Celebrex和Bextra。其中的
Bextra风光没多久，就离开了Pfizer的Pipeline了。
Celebrex和Bextra都是特异性抑制Cox-2酶的止痛药。理论上，这类药物是通过特异性
地影响Cox-2的功能来达到消炎(止痛)的效果的，而且这类药不抑制Cox-1的作用。与特
异性抑制Cox-2的止痛药不同，市场上其他类型的止痛药比如著名的Advil是通过抑制
Cox-1来止痛、抑制Cox-2来消炎的。但是Cox-1同时也被认为对保护胃肠粘膜有正面作
用。非特异性抑制Cox-2的止痛药可能因为影响Cox-1而导致胃肠出血或者是溃疡。所以
对于本来就有溃疡或胃肠出血的病人来说，可能不宜吃这类的止痛药。抑制Cox-2的止

Chesterfield that signals the increasing importance of biotech drugs to the

The company, based in New York, is doubling the size of a pilot plant that
