第一，小公司的db要么运维兼做dba，要么开发搞定
开发要是搞不定db，那就别搞挨踢了，参考swjuter招工时候，不会sql就进不去
第二，db2已经开源了，ibm很多年前就不对db2收费了
跟oracle比有啥用，下面一堆一堆的不要钱的东西，也都不是很烂
mysql被oracle吞掉是一个意外，如果不被oracle吞掉
估计今天没有postgresql多少事
第三，vendor没用，这个道理大家都明白
在挨踢混久的人谁没见过几个产品的bug
就算发现了bug又怎样？报告上去，几个月后的版本能给解决那就跪安谢主龙恩了
搞不好的是，vendor压根不甩你，摆明了看不起你小公司，这种事太多了
最后几年后问题还是依旧存在，大公司没有一个效率高的，微软也一样
所以与其花钱让微软去折腾，还不如自己上
现在安全和精度都不重要了，抓紧时间把系统做大，能够容纳最大的吞吐是最重要的
实际上对于大多数公司来说，也就是财务和用户帐户两块还需要db
其它的，transaction毫无必要，浪费资源，裁 |

对于平台软件来说
从linux迁移到macosx上去不要太容易
但是如果要同时兼容linux和windows
那不太容易，现在包括游戏也普遍都有mac版的
除了m$自己搞的软件不做mac版以外
其他所有公司都在支持mac版
现在发考题上课，对学生布置作业
都要说一个win版的一个mac版的
而且不会mac版你要小心
我记得我在jobhunting版看到有人因为面试时候要求
上机编程做题，有人因为不习惯macosx的操作而导致他被淘汰
windows傻缺都会用，但是mac版的软件多少都会有点差异
因为很多命令接近unix，比如ls, ps, stop之类的
你要是上去就来dir之类的，等死吧
尤其是很多老中从小没有用过linux和unix的话 |

不错，一家成熟的PaaS(平台即服务),
我问过，一个帐号可以开750个instance,
可以用java,ruby,python,node.js,php...
一个instance 512M内存，他家为了防止滥用，每次都将免费的instance deactive。
加34刀，可以加到 1G内存，不会再催眠你的instance.
这家是建设在EC2上的，主要是卖PostgreSQL服务器。
你还可以购买几十种其它服务.
2. openshift.com
redhat的PaaS平台。
可以免费开3个，特色是JBoss。
这家性能不错。不催眠。
免费的内存512M,存储1G,可以安装mysql等等数据库。
mongodb就不是那么方便了，占空间太大。
如果你的项目发展顺利，可以scale up,
官方宣称可以支持到16G内存，百万/天的访问量。
和heroku一样，这家也是用的EC2。
3. aws.amazon.com
micro instance免费1年，但是不是真的全免费。
对IO,bandwith等等都有限制，超过还是要收费。

但是，在Eclipse/JBoss Developer Studio两个IDE中都无法成功在tomcat 7.0项目中
运行servlet。我创建了openshift的tomcat7.0项目，然后就看到无法识别javax.
servlet这个错误，我就设置了server,下载了apache tomcat，并在项目中java build
path加入Library,选择
tomcat。然后可以编译，在server上运行，看到snoop.jsp,可以创建自己的jsp。这一
步是不是就有问题？有别的办法吗？
然后我新建servlet，修改web.xml，commit and push，发现错误，

to use, but it doesn't support stored procedures and transactions.
For a sql server with more functionalities look for postgresql which
also comes with linux. pretty good too.
For a standalone sql server on windows also try MSDE package, which
is just a stripped down version of MSSQL. It doesn't have administration
tools but is freely distributable.
As for books the on-line help file (MSSQL boosk) installed with mssql7 are
