I need to share a unix directory and mount it to another client computer for network licensing.
I share the directory with share command.
When I try to mount it from client computer, it says: "RPC program not registered".
What could that be?
I checked with "ps -ef |grep rpc*" and find on the server computer, these services are running:
rpcbind,
rpc.ttdbserverd
mountd is also on.
How do I solve this problem? Any idea?

se.
Web service has nothing to do with platform and a specific technology, e.g.
EJB.
Web service comes with two flavor (style) - RPC or Document.
In Java world, you can wrap a EJB with a web service. Then, your EJB will be
invoked from other language/platform, e.g. .NET. The web service on top of EJB
can be either RPC style or Document style.
So, you question itself is kind of wrong already. Web service looks simple,

In wsdd file, there is either provider="RPC" or provider="EJB". If I am using
EJB in web services, I have toconvert java code to EJB, generate local and
remote interfaces and create ejb-jar.xml. If I do not use EJB, I can keep old
java code as business methods and simply wirte deploy.wsdd file to deploy the
web services. So I think "RPC" is much simplier.

首先，楼主的帖子问的是java后端是不是还用Servlet+JSP。那么，回帖之前肯定先得
看帖，对不对。
1. Servlet+JSP，95%以上是用在web server。所以楼主说的后端，是指相对于
javascript和html的前端来说。
2. 为什么Servlet+JSP极少用在在更靠后的后端，比如两个service之间的通讯呢？这
就涉及到RPC和HTTP的比较。更靠后的后端一般用RPC(比如java的RMI和JAX-RPC)。这一
般都要generate一个客户端，一个服务器端，才能通讯。Google protobuf和Facebook
的thrift都是这个意思。那么有人问了，为什么不用更简单的RESTful,比如说，建立在
servlet上的httprequest 和httpresponse呢？
a. RESTful建立在http协议上，http报文里有非常多的overhead(你去数一数http到底
有多少header)，这些都是用不着的dead weight，占用带宽。

0，千万不要看点科技博客，小文章就觉得懂design了，千万不要！常见design题有什
么用，还是被大牛们按在地上摩擦了！所以下面都是我自己总结出来的合适答案，可能

1，Uber NY的Bar很高，尤其是design bar，不想浪费机会的小伙伴还是申Uber SF吧。
刷算法基本对Uber NY没用的，目前Uber NY就没有new grad，第一批new grad的要求必
然是overflow的。
2，几乎纯Design面试，new grad永远的痛，狠狠一巴掌打在自以为design很熟的我脸
上。面我的四个人都干过小公司CTO甚至大公司的技术核心，“你们这些说名词的new
grad，根本不懂design的境界”。
3，真机IDE测试，能bug free就bug free，对方的笑容不代表他认可你先run再debug。

以前对於其他编程人员直接调用DLL的引出函数，CORBA或RMI的函数比较不容易，他们必
须了解很多细节。而且必须好处理好通讯的过程。现在有了专门的UDDI和WSDL协议，相当
于这些函数的接口已经公开，所以变得更加方便，而且调试容易多了。这根本上是XML应
用的一个突破。但是stateful的session还是很麻烦，给服务器的负担比较大。而且不适
合于传送大的二进制文件。

以前只用过AXIS1，我以为web service就是基于SOAP的，所有的都应该兼容，就像HTTP
一样，不管是IE FF Tomcat jetty等等，都可以互操作。
我可以说JAX RPC和JAX WS是Java Webservice的API，那么AXIS和JbossWS是他们的实现
吧。另外两者的XML又有什么区别呢？
看来RPC和WS之间就不兼容，另外Contract-first (XML document-centric) approach,
and RPC (object-centric) approach.似乎WS都是用WSDL开始的啊？

processing step之间的dependency，framework去schedule每一个step的异步执行？
举个例子，我要写一个后端rpc service，处理一个rpc request，产生这个rpc的
response，这个过程中我需要执行若干个步骤
1: input request, output A
2: input request, output B
3: input A, B, output C
4: input request, A, C; output D
5: input B, D output final response
每一个步骤内部的logic可能是一个blocking computation，也可能是一个async call
(disk io or network call)。有没有这样一个framework能够理解这样的dependency并
且最优化的schedule这5个step的async execution，比如1和2可以并行run。不知道开
