在医药这块儿, SAS的长处是用macro做TFL, R作figure很棒,强过SAS, 但是做table,
listing很弱,似乎没有一个成熟的package能作出直接嵌入到word文档的table,
listing. 要知道, TFL最终是要放到word文档的,然后上交FDA或者存档的.
至于做传统的统计分析, 至少在医药这块儿, SAS能做的, R怕是都能做, R中的有些分
析方法可能更加前沿. 毕竟是open source, free, 全球无数聪明的脑袋都在用它, 无
数的人都在验证它,然后提供免费的算法给每个人. 而且医药这块儿, 需要统计分析的
数据量也不是天文数字, 两三千病人的数据就很了不起了. 当然, R在RAM里运行,限制
它处理大数据的能力的确是它的软肋 |

I don't think SAS can beat R in universities. It is not a matter of cost.
Actually the problem does not lie in the language itself - it is the
community that matters. R dominates the academic; SAS flirts FDA.
I once asked one bancova student to develop a few types of Table Programs
using R that are usually done in SAS for FDA submission and it is so easy.
But so what? FDA will never let us submit Tables using R. I know a group

来，也算是对自己工作一周年的小结。这里仅针对sas programming，欢迎大家讨论，
指出我认识的不足。但是不希望看到无谓的争论。
先说下自己的背景：化学转统计，西部大农村third tie学校。因为不喜欢系里搞
office politics quit了phd拿ms出来找工作。5门精算，sas 2证。刚开始找精算，最
想进P&C,可惜一直没找到机会。阴差阳错进了pharm做programming。3个月intern，4个
月temp，今年一月有个机会老板和大老板直接给转了full time。在这里对老板和大老
板表示感谢，虽然他们都是美国人，不会来mit。
Programming:
说到biotech的sas programming，那就不得不说CDISC（SDTM和ADAM）。这个现在在业
界已经是必须的了。传统的table，listing， figure（TFL）已经非常弱化。 T基本上

‘Cost’不一致。个人认为答案应该是D，在sum(Expense) as Cost之后，data sets

好多code,都是需要连接到不同的metadata servers，现在都是一个运行完了，手动切
换到另外一个在运行，有code可以直接切换metadata server么？
2. SAS code schedule， 现在是用的windows task scheduler。有个密码过期问题。
而且管理program很乱，因为不同的code和project还有store process太多了。。。。
有其他方法可以schedule么？ SAS应该有自己的schedule manager吧，这个是要在

你要做好被提问的准备。
如果对方真的需要你自己证明你SAS很厉害，你可以试着从以下方面去证明：
1、我非常擅长数据的合并。我会使用merge function，proc sql，和hash table。
HealthCare的数据量一般比较大，使用Hash table效率会高很多。
2、我非常熟悉各种SAS function
3、我非常精通SAS Macro
自己讲很容易，但是一旦对方提问，你就容易露馅了。所以自己还是应该好好恶补一下

问到如何证明自己的sas 能力，就说工作中一直重视sas的学习和锻炼，project都自觉
地用来练一遍sas，还可以主动要求提交sample sas codes。
如果面试中有可能问具体问题，可以考虑带一个打印的重要程序提纲，回答不上来的问
题就查一下提纲，说一下想法。我觉得这就够了，这些东西本来就不是非得全记住，记

都已经标准化，除了基本的常见的一些test要非常熟以外，大多数的model都要看一下
SAS的documentation，起码我自己是这样。不过并不复杂，看几个例子就大概明白怎么
用了，当然，前提是要了解每一个model背后的methodology 。
另外，楼主可以向面试官阐述一下自己在SAS Graph上的功底。SAS Graph的功能是非常
强大的，我自己就在HealthCare ，经常需要使用SAS画各种图，刚开始的时候很痛苦，
因为老板一个小小的要求就可能导致你写很长的annotation，不过画出来确实很好看。
所以我觉得你有必要强调你在这方面的经验。 |

发帖数: 335 | 41 刚考完sas base, 我感觉如果单纯刷50+70+123题可能会在及格线边缘徘徊，原题并没
有那么多。但难度比较大的都是原题，不是原题的都是细节题，看过就知道，没看过就
答不上来。
补充两个我大意了的考点
1. split options. 同label 连用，可以将wrap label. 考题大概是
label = "A**B", 选择 split = '*'可去除label 里面的"*".
2. 有一题考do loop，然后一个do until 和 一个do year = 2012 to 2021选项，我
压根没看出来两个有什么不同，随便猜了一个，说明do loop怎么运行是一个考点。
3. 提供error information，判断哪里出错了。有一个是考datalines的正确写法，这
个我貌似没见过
就只记得这些啦，另外问问sas专家，我准备把sas base和advance那两本书都卖了，入
一本little sas当作reference可以吗？因为感觉前面两个太应试了，而且知识点找起

发帖数: 459 | 42 我在学统计之前没有任何编程基础，所以SAS和R我感觉难度差不多。SAS的好处就是系
统完备，如果程序出了错误，给出的提示消息比较清楚，而且自己解决不了的问题可以
打电话让客服给解决，他们有时候直接把程序写好email过来run一下就行了。这方面R
就只能靠自己google了，不过网上各种信息也很多。这两个如果是一般的统计分析应用
，我觉得学起来都还好，都可以看着书一边学一边用。如果是data management，各种
排列，各种matrix，我觉得都挺难的，工作中没用过也没学过。如果有编程基础的熟悉
那个思维方式大概就不会觉得难。
然后我们这里其实用SAS根本不算编程的（确实思维和编程不一样，就是窗口软件的代
码化），我用的R主要模仿SAS各种功能，基本也不算编程。专门做编程的人在SAS和R之
间一般都偏重R. |

要现在就急着追求代码的快。代码只有要work就行。SAS有一定的基础后看系统的书效
果也不会快。最好的方法就是自己找个项目，结合自己的活更好。比如你是用SAS做
MODELING，那么就要有意识的搜这方面的列子。网上的资源很多。你可以看看一个叫
WENSHUI LIU的博客。搜一下 他有很多列子。
话又说回来，你工作三年了，SAS没有提高，更重要的要找到想提高SAS的动力。

了点research,才发现了WPS这个东西。网上的statistics blogger把它吹得很神，能用

Clinical SAS
Objectives: to train students with master and Ph.D in statistics with the
knowledge and skills needed in the pharmaceutical settings, as clinical SAS
programmer, SDTM SAS programmer, or biostatisticians.
