随着蓝光播放器价格持续下落，人气持续上涨，很多发行商又回到资料室，制作经典老
片和热门新片的最新修复版本和转录版本。今年有些礼品套装的价格可能看起来有点高
，但是考虑到里面收录的片子，整套的价格还算合理，特别是网上零售商还会大幅度打
折（下面标出的价格都是生产商的建议零售价；大多数情况下，能打7折到6折）。而且
，制作优良的蓝光光碟，比如索尼出品的《阿拉伯的劳伦斯》(Lawrence of Arabia)最
新版本，其音画质量是任何在线视频都无法比拟的，因为在线视频用的都是被强力压缩
的数码文件。
只是今年的应季精选似乎有点单薄，好像电影公司终于没有圣诞主题的电影可供再次发
行了。（我推荐一部被人遗忘的电影：约瑟夫·凯恩[Joseph Kane]1945年导演的《骗

。讲一位吝啬的商人，如何在圣诞夜由三位鬼魂带领，反省自己，发现圣诞真谛的故事。
细细读来，它并不仅仅是一个鼓励大家做慈善的故事，更是一个人寻找本心的故事。

机顶盒
机顶盒在未来很多年内都会是我们的“老朋友”。目前的STB技术可支持卫星机顶盒和有线机顶盒。当前两大卫星供应商在继续从MPEG2到MPEG4过渡，并已经部署了新型机顶盒和天线，以充分利用这一压缩技术的优势。DirecTV在新型HD盒的部署上肯定会遇到困难，而且它的新型HD DVR机顶盒会继续供不应求。DirecTV曾想废除MPEG2 HD信号，转而使用HD MPEG4，但没有成功，而从它现在的部署速度看来，即便到2007年它都无法做到这一点。另一方面，EchoStar公司在MPEG4机顶盒的部署上就顺利得多。但是，如果输掉和TiVo的官司，它就有可能失去400万部DVR。这一案子目前由高等法院在审理，审理结果很难预料。
