一般情况，老汉都是推荐raised bed，但这个siding下的空间明显不够。
另外一概办法是靠墙清出三尺宽，可以过人就行，然后用同样的石头加一条边，这样也
能暴露siding
vinyl siding本身不怕潮，可是下面就是plywood sheathing，怕潮怕虫怕微生物 |

的要换一下，再撑个10年可能要彻底换。
非正式的咨询了几个师傅，有人说不要花钱刷了，刷外墙估计也得几千。干脆一次性给
包上vinyl的，一劳永逸。也有师傅说木
siding还是高档一些，vinyl的虽然省事但是cheap，包了得不偿失，不如多花钱维持木
siding，以后卖能卖出者差价来。

且，象我们这里的有些town规定都不让用vinyl的siding。如果你换木头的siding，有
种时不用刷漆的，叫做什么cedar bleach oiled，那种的确不需要刷漆。 |

还需要换。
问过做vinyl siding 的，他们不管里面，只在外面包一层vinyl，要一万。
Web 上查过，做vinyl siding并不是perfect的，vinyl 包在外面，里面木头会发霉，
烂掉。 vinyl 刚流行，若干年后的副作用还没显现。 可以想象几十年后，打开vinyl
后，里面木头会腐烂成什么样子。 但因为vinyl 毕竟看起来好看，还是会增加value
的，所以大多数人都抱着，省心，把麻烦留给别人的想法做了vinyl。 但真正有价值
，又不打算卖的人，都不会去做vinyl糟塌自己的房子的。而且，vinyl 虽然美观，但
还是给人很 cheap的感觉。 当然，一些新房子可能一开始就做了vinyl, 里面根本就
没有木头就无所谓了。
所以，如果房子没打算住一辈子， budget允许的话就做vinyl吧，顺便也把窗户换了，
会看着很漂亮，只是如果原wood siding 有铅涂料的话，按规定要在做vinyl之前贴上

室天花板和一侧墙壁（是外墙）浸水。有没有什么公司推荐？最好是siding，屋顶和室
内都能修复的。实在不行分开找也可以。
我通过angieslist找过若干家修屋顶和siding的，印象很差，和其他种类的contractor
打交道从没感觉这么差过。首先是很多人和你约好了来看，根本就不来。来了看后说会
用电子邮件给个估价，然后什么也没收到。有一个最后通过电子邮件给了估价，但是和
他现场说的差别很大。

我在读CS的phd，本科也是CS，没接触过finance，最近才对金融市场产生兴趣，部分原

learning / data mining，主要是做stat用到的数值方法。stochastics完全没学过。

stat和data mining，还是以准备quant面试为目的去看

作为一个笨笨的Intern, 不仅是有时要提心吊胆独自on call，就连平时的时候，医院
里的事情什么都不懂，有时连病人在那里都不知道，attending 叫拿个东西，都不知是
啥。 这个时候，都是有礼貌的护士帮助我。她们自己其实也很忙，但问她们病人的情
况，都是有问必答，非常了解。口头下的医嘱，她们马上就输入电脑，都不用自己填
order. 样本也是马上就送，没有任何拖延。最让我感到印象深刻的是监护室的护士，
在大清早，第一时间不用想都把病人的少有的样本收集到无菌容器中，方便医生查看送
检。 昏迷的病人，护士是主动过来提供信息。 很纳闷，这里的护士是怎么训练的，能
够如此有职业素养？虽然我连她们的名字都记不住，在最狼狈的时候，和她(他）们一
起工作，真是荣幸。
马上要离开了，好的老师常有，好的护士不常有。如果说有什么值得最最想念的，就是
高效又体贴的护士了。
同时也感谢和我一起的Intern小J。 能和我一样笨的intern很少，一开始就是一起糊涂

I recently found there are a lot of viscous drops on my rear windshield, the
two windows on the passenger side and the passenger side of the frond
windshield. But I did not find such viscous drops on the two windows of the
driver side.
I know there is some oil leakage around the place of the air intake manifold.
Anyone had such experiences or know what cause this problem.
Even right after I washed the car, these viscous drops came in the middle of

1．背景
以前学计算机，phd毕业在大投行前台做quant两年，去年年底下岗。我们组走了两个
phd。第一个buy side offer在redundancy近两个月时拿到。
2. 关于猎头
求职先更新简历，上linkedin,准备面试。背景还可以，会有不少猎头联系你。我的经
验：面试十多家，自投朋友投30%，猎头50%，公司HR自己联系的20%. 拿到的offer都是
猎头的，悲剧的多数是自己或者朋友投的，原因我感觉是公司hr常把简历转到不对口的
组，面试不易有共鸣。一个组fail了，hr就不发别的组。猎头比较清楚公司招人的职位
，会把简历直接转给hiring manager。比自投好得多。
猎头质量差别很大。一共4-5个猎头递过简历。好的猎头不乱来，就递几个地方且之前

放不进去. 但是同样,取放东西很方便, 一目了然.
french door, 下面是很大的冷冻室,可以放很多东西,大东西, 但是一个压一个的, 想
拿下面的东西得把上面的都挪开. 冷藏室还不错. |

我们家两口子，食物消耗惊人（每次去纽约买菜都是满满一车），平时都是自己做饭做
菜，在apartment住的时候，就感觉side by side的和最传统那种（freezer在上冷藏在
下）不方便。因为我们需要access to 冷藏的最多。因此搬家时候买了french door的
，还在预算范围内挑了一个最大容量的，感觉很方便。
首先，日常牛奶，蔬菜，饮料，肉类等抬手就能够着，不需要俯下身子看半天。
其次，freezer里面也有rack。我们从纽约采购回来之后，一般都会把所有需要冷冻的
肉类，鱼虾全部按量分好装袋，然后再一次性load到freezer那个大抽屉。freezer的
rack或者小抽屉我们就放些平时要用的小包装食品。每次从freezer拿东西是比较费劲
（得弯腰掏），但load之前就整理清楚，可以极大减轻工作量。比如里脊肉，买回来就
按量分好小包装，放在最上头，平时按照菜谱拿出来解冻就是，也无需翻箱倒柜。
最后，冰箱这东西是多多益善。我们两个大概是周围朋友中拥有冰箱最多的，25容量的
french door一个，海 |

side-by-side只有不常用的才放下面。
所以我预测这french door流行五年就会fade out。不过这东西好处是
不是built-in，不流行了容易换掉。不像有些房子傻傻的intercom,
central vacuum, wall speakers。。。 |
