for iceskating after falling on my right knee last time. It was a painful
fall, it forced me to cut short my skiing trip, and took more than a month
to heal. It hurt much more than skiing falls, more dangerous than extreme
skiing in a way :)
The pads are quite slim and comfortable and I feel much more at ease skating
, though I have not fallen on my knees yet again. It is a good utilization
of equipments that don't get use |

aerozxy said seems well said for eastern slopes.
Ski technology and designs change fast these years to combat with snowboard
market. As a result skiers can now choose skis based on snow conditions and
terrains. I believe that's the right way to go, which is what XYZOK's link

发帖数: 367 | 12 Race Boots 一般不要买，滑一天会感觉很累。虽然Race Boots也有硬度80或者90的，
但是一般Race Boots的width 在98mm以下，有的甚至只有95mm。中国人的脚一般都比较
肥，这鞋子穿进去不蹩脚才怪（脚特瘦的不再我们议论之内）。通常适合中国人的
width是102-104mm，有的特宽的可能还得找106mm的鞋。
All Mountain的鞋也可以用来滑race skis。
另外Race ski也有男女之分，一般来说是女款的板子比男款的稍微软一点。
比如Atomic 的FIS SL 165cm就是男子板，155就是女子板。而大回转板 175，179，184
就是女子的，其他长度都是男子的。究竟软多少，一般人也不需要知道。 |

滑两天。唉。。。真是悲惨啊。
星期五晚上开到Victorville，凌晨才睡下，星期六早上6点起床从北面进山，虽然没有
什么traffic但是路上还能看见冰包，开得比较慢。8点进大熊湖town，就碰见南面进来
的车队了，跟着一直排队排到停车场就已经9点了。吃点东西去租gear，人山人海啊，
除了排队还是排队。给我调binder的mm似乎已经很累的样子，拿着boot在binder上比了
一下就上紧了螺丝，（之前每次我看见他们都是要把boot压进binder再弹出来，感
觉一下松紧才拧紧螺丝的。）不知道是不是心理作用，反正后来摔跤两次ski都没有脱
落。上午自己热身了一下，从绿道上下来三四趟，不知道是不是两个星期没滑没有感觉
了还是实在很困，转弯的时候两只ski有点打架，而且人真是多，让不会转弯的人过还
要躲开摔倒的，基本上就是滑滑停停，还摔了两跤，起来的时候扭了一下膝盖，更加使
不上劲了。下午去上课，也是从来没见过那么多的人。我们的班居然也凑了6个人。一

。不知道为什么看不少人不怎么skid但是速度比我还慢。我是板
头一冲下速度上得真快啊，就算经常skid还是能超过一些人。是不是我的板子就是快？
还是动作问题？

mammoth 出租的地方，有带靴子的，还有不带靴子的。看来，可以买一双很舒服的靴子
，然后租ski, 是不同的，然后再买ski
恩。。
My roommates and I bought quite a few(at least 4 pairs, with waist width
78mm, 83mm, 94mm, and 104mm) Rossignal Bandit series. Rossignal has a series
called bandit, starting from B1, B2, B3, B4 etc and rename to B78,B83,B94,
B104,etc. In my opinion, it is very good choice for 1st pair of skis. it is
not that stiff and quite forgiving while you can choose |

around in the snow with my friend's dogs... To protest against the elements
I wore a pair of decent looking "North Face" ski pants I bought from China.
The material looks sturdy enough...
Then my dog jumped up and her claw went down the ski pants... and went
slashing through it like it was nothing. I guess the cold made this crap
material very brittle.
The moral of the story is: Don't buy fake ski pants from China |

现在用的是在滑雪用具二手店买的boot和ski.
boot是 rossignol open x。花了95刀。挺合脚的，所以还可以再用一阵子。
ski是 Used Rossignol Cut Stage 2.(Dimensions: 105/69/95)。花了75刀。也不知道
是哪年的老家伙，肯定是有些年头了 ：-）
现在能顺畅下绿道，能连接左右转弯（不太清楚算不算parallel turn)。
现在好像到了减价的季节了，能否请高手推荐一下有什么适合像我这样的初学者的ski?

发帖数: 472 | 20 agree. the lessons teaching carving, hip transfer, etc., even when
advertised for advanced skiers, are more or less useless for all mountain
skiing. Mogul lessons and freestyle lessons would most likely provide new
informations. After all these form the real basics of big-mountain skiing. A
camp would be better for muscle memory. That's only my two cents with my
progressing understanding of skiing, not saying the instrutor is less
informative than me.

uphill ski too late and too little so I need to work on putting more weight
on the uphill ski. but this applies only to me. most people don't have the
same problem.
the turn should be initiated from down below (the ankles). |

如果是雪比较多的黑道，可以把板尾查到雪里，binding部分实际上是有点悬空的，这样
比较容易穿
先穿downhill的ski，然后是uphill ski
如果雪面很硬，都是冰，你只能到坡底穿了，实际山，如果雪很硬都是冰，你基本上一
跤就摔倒坡底了

Is car necessary for a ski trip in SLC? Superpass includes free ski bus, was
that useful?
How much is a motel normally run during holidays per night? Do they offer
superpass in their package ($180 4days)?

side with waist around 65 (if you are female) or 75 (if you are a male) and
length 10 cm below your height - assuming that you will upgrade in few
years after you become an intermediate skier.
P.S., I don't need to mention shaped skis because all new skis are shaped. |

错于是滑了一趟没停，第二趟在还比较top的地方被树枝绊了一下跌倒，很快就从slide
变成tomahawking,一直到坡度放缓才停住（事后看ski track滚了差不多两三百
vertical feet，速度一度接近30mph...)，好在自己比较走运，这一路居然没有hit
tree/rock,零部件也没被颠坏。
回头看看自己三年前刚学滑雪时发的帖子感慨万千，帖子里的很多ID一直都很活跃（我
其实常来看贴，不过基本是万年潜水）总结起来险情之所以发生还是因为自己安全意识
淡薄，希望板上的同雪们也能重视安全的问题，而不仅仅把ski当成一项fun sports

size 25.5, 可能当时店里专门负责ski的员工不在, 也没帮我怎么量. 我自我感觉穿上
去很舒服, 一点都不挤. 本来都打算就这双了.
昨天晚上去了一家local的ski store. 他们说25.5太大了. 我应该试24.5, 大了他们一
点办法都没有, 小了还可以customize. 他们告诉我应该先扣上面的两个扣子, 然后把
脚往后退, 在扣前面两个. 这样一弄, 发现24.5脚趾头不顶boot了. 脚趾头wiggling.
我就换了一个24.5, 他们说这个size是fit 我最好的了.
下午又去了另外一个rei. 这次的员工好像是专门负责ski boot的. 给我推荐的是
Rossignol Electra Sensor3 size 25.5. 给我加了一个heel lift. 穿上去脚趾头可以
free wiggle. 但是也没有大.
两双的脚后跟都不会move. rossignol的穿久了有点麻, 估计是我扣太紧了.

现在水平比以前是好一点，黑道一般也能下，自己也知道滑的难看。mogul也是，总是

如果我哪儿都滑的话，是不是应该是all-mountain啊？

. But, the technician there used the wrong jig initially. They drilled a set
of wrong holes on my skis. Then, they fixed the mistake by drilling another
set of holes to mount the bindings.
My question is will this mistake affect the lifetime and usage of my skis?

fault, a pro shop should give you a new pair of skis and sale the old pair
as malfunction. That's why every time I buy new skis, I will ask to watch
the technician mount the bindings. Some shops don't like that, but I will
insist.I'd like to make sure every settings are correct.
This is one advantage of snowboard over ski, cause it's so easy to mount the
bindings for snowboard. Anyone can do it by himself. |

Ski Resort - the only “Ski Resort” in Alaska. It might be small (1400
acres), but 600-900 inch annual snowfall makes this a powder lover’s heaven.
And we all know powder stays like powder in Alaska. The 40 miles drive
from Anchorage along Seward HWY is the most beautiful ride on earth, a pure
eye candy!
A more exciting destination for die hard skier/rider is Valdez, the capital of

话说回来，一般租Ski的话，越长的板子越难控制，但控制好了可以让你在高速时滑得
更稳。所以等级越高，板子越长（红黄白蓝，红色最短）。老式的板子（上个世纪末的
）可以高过自己一个头，不过现在流行的板子一般到齐眉也就差不多了。Ski板子都两
头宽中间细，Powder Ski整体来说更肥大一些 |
