This is a story of hubris, determination, emissions, an Impala, and, of
course, the amazing Soichiro Honda. It's a reminder that innovation can beat
strength, and that the most defining characteristic of any giant is not its
size, but it's susceptibility to cleverness.
I'm sort of amazed we've never officially talked about this here on Jalopnik
, because it's an amazing story. It's a story you may have heard before, but
it's absolutely worth repeating.

1. Soichiro Honda 91年归西以后他的继任者思路就变了，这个应该是个人性格天赋上
的原因，再加上当时的经济危机。结果死后九十年代CEO Nobuhiko Kawamoto把公司资
源用到Odyssey CR-V上去了，一直到现在Honda菜车做的是不错的。如果Honda一直由
Soichiro Honda领导现在会怎么样呢，会更好吗，历史无法验证。
2. engineering上Honda有实力，但styling上NSX实在不行，车身扁平腰线太低，猛一
看就是个鞋垫，屁股那么长，尼玛恐龙啊。。。这一点可以从NSX的销量上看出来，91-
98年，全球17441（美国7421）辆，值得注意的是其中有近一半的销量是91年的，全球
8404（美国3163），到了98年全球才卖出494（美国245），可见市场对NSX的兴趣丧失
的很快。后来的S2K也这命运。
3. 一个跑车要想持续进化首先得卖的好，至少是不差，911的进化道路就是个例子。
NSX卖的这么差，很难想象Honda会继续往里投钱，关键是该投的钱也不是个小数目，比

非常sexy的。发动机，轮胎，重量分布，FRS差远了。Soichiro Honda还在的话绝对干
死toyota。
