2010年用STANDARD DEDUCTION的话STATE TAX REFUND就是NON-TAXABLE,用ITEMIZED的话

☆─────────────────────────────────────☆
Ringer (vail!!!!!!!!!!)
tax bracket 30%, long-term capital gain tax 15%
方案A:

http://www.marketwatch.com/lazyportfolio/portfolio/aronson-fami

According to the IRS, some things are taxable. You will receive a
check for the relocation reimbursement (minus the taxes).

Tradition IRA made after tax contribution, and converted to Roth IRA
right away.
个Tradition IRA contribution 是after tax,然后convert 到Roth IRA 的
distribution是non-taxable event.

State sale tax > actual state income tax(State income tax withheld减去

我用的是turbotax online, 去年有$1300 state tax refund, and I hit AMT in
federal return
followed turbotax instruction:
2012 revised with the case of
no refund
TAX (LINE 44) x4394 x4774
AMT (LINE 45) 7192 6812

I apologize for making two big mistakes in my original post. Thanks to
KennyD and lazycat for pointing them out.
(1) I didn't take into account that contribution to a taxable account
can only be after-tax money. I mixed things up because I was
thinking about a conversation that I had with a friend not too long
ago on traditional IRA funded with after-tax money (for people who
make more than the limits allowed).

hmm, the conclusion is completely opposite now, hehe.
Some of my opinions:
1) It's probably not fair to consider state tax when contributing
and do not consider state tax when cashing out. Not all people
work in a state-tax state and retire in a no-state-tax state.
I personally have never paid any state tax; and I think many
people don't move to another state when retiring.
2) Dividends kill the deal. Is there a way to find more tax-efficient
index funds?

VTSAX+VWITX+VTIAX+VTMSX(本来应该买VTXMX的,结果开始买错了,就没改)
Dollar cost

Consider all your accounts as one portfolio, recalculate the percentage of
each fund, add your new investment into the funds that is far below your

your calculation indicates you have 20% of bonds and 80% of stocks, you put
money onto your bonds.
