请大家恭喜我吧！我拿到南部一所名校的volunteer博士后offer了。为了避免被仇家人
肉，校名我就不说了。
不过，我可以小小的透露一下，这个学校在美国南部是鼎鼎大名，如雷贯耳，号称是南
部的哈佛。我要跟的老板还不到60岁，就在美国南部地区的免疫界如日中天，被认为是
美国南部地区的Jurg Tschopp。而且更绝的是，他也喜欢登山，而且有心脏病。前几次
登山，每次都发生了cardiac arrest。都是靠路人打电话叫的直升机，直接送急救的。
有人可能要问了，你为什么愿意主动放弃一年3-4万美金的高薪，作一个volunteer的博
士后呢？我按捺不住喜悦的心情，告诉大家一个小秘密吧：这位美国南部地区的Jurg

时候怎么就。。
原来是hiking时出了事故。。联想到几年前usc得一个中国教授得事情，大家运动是运
动，但是一定要小心安全啊。
mountain hiking有时也很危险的。。
不知会不会有人在high profile journal上给Tschopp写obitury..sign... |

Terrible news has reached us. On March 22, 2011, one of our good friends and
colleagues, Jürg Tschopp, has passed away by a cardiac attack when he was
skiing together with his family.
Jürg Tschopp received his PhD in biophysics at the University of Basel in
1979. He then joined the group of Müller-Eberhard at the Scripps Clinic in

NLRP3 inflammasome，释放mature IL-1beta, 从而导致inflammation （Nature paper
）. 在随后的clinical trial中，他和瑞士洛桑大学的collaborator一起做了抑制IL-1
receptor antagonist, 临床效果相当好。
你可以google或者pubmed一下jurg tschopp, 如果不想看他的具体paper的话，那就重
点看看他老人家去世的时候其他牛人给他写的科研上的贡献的评价（Science, Nature
上面都有）。此人如果不是滑雪心脏病
突发英年早逝的话，10年内很有可能拿诺奖 |
