due to the unusual power shudtown. Normally you should not press the power
button of a running unix system. |

I did NOT mean to ask using outlook to read emails in my unix account. I do
NOT have a unix account anymore, but brought my old mails saved at that time
to my PC. But I don't have a good way to access it since I don't have pine,
etc on my PC. This problem should have nothing to do with Email servers. |

用户读，若干个Group写，有些人则完全Deny, 这些都记录在一个BLOB里面。
请问在UNIX里有类似的Security Model吗？简单的UNIX文件权限只有rwxrwxrwx,不够呀。
如果有，都是商业系统吗？应该有免费的吧？ |

2。 人家问最好的，我当然推荐自己认为最好的一个了。而且solaris是所有这些里面用
的最广的一个了。
3。 如果FreeBSD现在不能说是一种unix dist.， 那么free unix distribution，就只有
solaris乐。 (不知道对不对，说错了请纠正。还有别的free的吗，如果不买他们的机器
。）
4。 solaris10 x86可以装在普通的PC机上，solaris10
x64可以装在64位的AMD（和intel？）机器上. 当然solaris10 sparc 是装在sun自己生
产的sparc机器上的。多种选择，随你挑。 |

我们lab有台用于计算的比较大型的unix server, 最近系统经常有问题， 我从来没有碰过
这种机器， 一直只有跟pc打交道的经验。我想问的是， 如果把机器上的电源关掉再打开
这样让机器重新启动， 会不会把机器搞坏？这个机器上没有restart的button.
我之所以这样问， 是因为我们实验室另外一台server有一次有个人不小心把机器的插头断
开了， 机器就坏掉了。

windows. Never had a problem. I figure sftp or ftp can automatically
convert the files, because they know the system dependences.
In fact, even if I tar-zip the files, when I use the files on a different
OSes, never had a problem between Unix and Linux. Who can tell me why? |

挂到windows下以后发现只有8g的空间
以前没有接触过unix或者linux的系统
不知道是不是windows xp 认不出来硬盘上的分区？
用pqmagic也只看到8g的空间
