前些天看完了虎妈写的书：“Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mom”， 英文版，感想颇多
，那天第二天要考试的情况下，还赶着写了一篇draft出来，加上最近几天薇薇新的学
校要开学，还有过去上中文学校的几周，让我忍不住的要写这一篇博。
The Chinese Way or the American Way？作为来美国的第一代移民，我想很多爸爸妈
妈都有和我一样的疑惑和挣扎，到底怎样的教育方式对我们的小朋友们是最好的？作为
妈妈的我们，要做虎妈，犬妈，还是hello kitty 妈妈？
先说美国的方式，虎妈一书里把美国的教育批评的无一是处，孰不知她书里很多的小的
细节完全是美国化的，比如最后她的书基本是她的两个女儿和她一起完成的，比如枯燥

昨天从DC回maryland的时候，在georgetown附近，GPS指示一直往前走。前面有个很小
的分岔路口，不知道路口有无标志（可能前方有one-way我没看见，因为天色不好）就
进了one-way。之后被警察pull over，开了罚单，150美刀，查了一下如果我是MD驾照
的话会扣一点driving record，打电话去保险公司，说这个不会直接影响到保险，
discount什么的就难说了。回头看警察开给我的罚单，本来是sandy brown的车，警察
写了颜色是silver，不知道这点是否可以作为连警察都看不清我颜色，天色不好的证据
呢？黑白色牌子的one-way就更不是那么容易辨认了。

She wanted to pick up her friend in airport.
But I wasn't familiar with the road nearby the airport.

下准备直行或者右转，这个时候谁有路权？是按照先到先走的规则，还是左转让直行的
规则。
翻了一下交规，只说了four way或者multi way stop sign是先到先走，即使先到的左
转，后到的直行，也是左转的先走。但是没有找到类似的two way stop sign的规则，
google了一下，老美的说法也各有不同。
我个人认为应该是先到先走，也一直是这么做的，一直没有遇到过问题，今天中午和出
去吃饭，朋友开车，是按照左转让直行的规则，然后我就不知道谁是对的了。 |

如果你只是考虑个别情况那要从新设计，
或者直接采用回归分析的相关关系观察其相关性。
只考虑Group1-Group2，Group3-4可以用one-way ANOVA(即水平A+/A-下B的不同水平的差
异),考虑Group2-Group3,Group4-1用two-way ANOVA。
可以用SPSS分析，只需输入相关数据就行。
(或许在SPSS下直接用two-way ANOVA也可以反映所有数据，没用过不敢肯定，但是感觉结
果应该不是很准确) |

今天路过这样一个路口。我自西向东走，准备向北面左转。一共有三条lane，分别是左
转，左转+直行，右转，我是最左面lane上的第一辆车。信号灯是绿色非箭头，于是我
稍微向前开出白线，然后停下等对面的直行车辆。对面有几辆直行车，还有一辆右转车
，他们都在路口前面，速度很慢。由于距离比较近，我就决定等他们过去后再转，结果
这时后面的车开始horn，我一紧张就硬着头皮转过去了。转的时候发现直行车没有过来
，而且那辆右转车明显在yield我。
回来仔细想了想，猜测对面的车可能这时候是红灯，但是为什么我们的信号灯不是左转
箭头灯呢。google map了一下看到有个 3-way signal的标志，应该是和这个有关吧。
google了一下还是没搞太明白。请教一下大家给解释一下3-way signal的具体含义，还
有为什么我们是类似受保护的左转，不给左转箭头灯呢，是不是除了对面车辆，还有其
他的车辆或者行人不是红灯，需要我在左转时候yield？

发帖数: 546 | 36 晚上去三番玩，十一点多回家路上因为对路也不熟，在一条two-lane的路上开，以为是
one-way，然后红灯我准备左转，看到右lane有一辆车停着等红灯，我就换到左lane，
换过去才发现竟然这是条路不是one-way，也就是我换到了对面车道上，更倒霉的是那
辆等红灯的车竟然是警车。。。自然让我停车ticket。然后因为正好那天前后我的保险
renew了，所以车里只有旧的insurance card，其实policy number和保险公司都是同一
个，但是车里的那份时间过期了，所以一共两个ticket，一个是"21650 drive wrong
way"，一个是“16028 没带insurance卡"。让我7月20前必须上庭。。。 没有什么经验
，想请问下：
1. 有朋友说可以先写信argue，警察如果没空写信辩驳我案子就自动撤销了？
2. 如果上庭的话什么流程？完全不知道去哪里啊
3. 确实是我的错，也不指望不罚钱了，就是希望怎么做可以不影响保险涨价呢？

发帖数: 7930 | 37 我最近早上常常要经过一个4 WAY STOP路口。自己的车道有2条LANE，我常常占据没车
的一条LANE，等旁边的LANE车开始启动，就跟着启动前行。但是因为等的时间比相垂直
的路口的车少，就常常被嘀。如果完全要按照先到先开的原则，这4 WAY STOP就变成 6
WAY STOP了，这恐怕会浪费大家更多的时间。
大家说说，我这跟着旁边的LANE一起启动直行，有问题吗？ |

前没有承受功率那么大的喇叭的时候，也不得不多分1 way或者0.5 way，所以高价喇叭
5 way或更多的也不少，jensen tannoy别看也是一个喇叭分频还是躲不开。不过不考虑
功率或者效率极高，和低阻耳机一样，就无所谓分频了。 |

二任房主，他们只住了2年；而且邻居也是新的，只住那儿一年，
那是不是只要drive way存在的过去10年时间内，以前的邻居没有宣示主权，我作为新
的房主，就可以占有那块地呢？（可怜见的，我不想占便宜，只是不想将来有麻烦，而
且那个drive way拆了很不方便）有没有相关的条例可以参照？多谢。

目测的偏差范围比较大，我刚才自己量了一下自己的drive way，最陡的地方13度。去
年冬天买snow blower之前，我和LP的车各有一次爬到中间打滑，上不去。雪最多有3、
4cm，不过两辆车都是两轮驱动，而且轮胎都不是雪胎。如果是四轮驱动或者雪胎的应
该不会有问题。
解决办法倒是很简单，买一个好用的snow blower。如果门口traffic不大，把车停在
drive way口，自己进去把雪清一下就没问题了。如果有钱，也可以安heated drive
way。或者大量撒盐 :)
真的是20度的话，就有点够呛了。 |

是builder负责维护common driveway加各家的private drive/lawn/tree维护,每家出$
150/m,现在builder退出,要各家自己管,我担心是common way,虽说法律规定平分费用,
但我又不知道今后谁是owner,要碰上一个不负责的人,不很麻烦?有没个带头的人,又没
hoa,全靠各家协商,有买这种房子的,给点经验吧. 我不想买了,觉得未来有很多潜在的
问题,碰上一个不靠谱的owner,就要花不少时间和精力, agent使劲鼓动我们买,老公也
被她说动了. |
