之路，所以想去牛校。看了一圈，harvard, berkeley, stanford的专业我都不喜欢，现
在主要看中三个学校：
University of Michigan: School of Natural Resource and Environment
Duke: Nicholas School of Environment and Earth Science
Yale: School of Forestry and Environmental Studies
各位不要误会，我这几个学校都还没有申请，现在只是处于选校阶段，因为不准备广泛撒
网，所以想在选校阶段弄得细致一些。我自己认为michigan和duke的专业方向更喜欢一些
，duke的教授略多一些，但michigan处于五大湖地区，相信学术比南方的duke更活跃。
yale的方向一般，但名气更大。希望各位能给点意见，哪个学校的PhD将来回国会更容易

的任何地方，大不了就是时间长一些,免费。我不太清楚Laquinta inn算不算on campus
，你可以问一下司机。
晚上用Yale公交车需要打电话叫，203-432-9255.
CT transit公交车似乎不到sargent drive。
不过Sargent drive 离校园真的很近，打车差不多$7就到了。

校园挺小的，没什么好景点。徒步走一遍不需要一个小时，LZ就随便走走吧。对了，在
Chapel和College的拐角处有个 Information center，LZ可以去要个地图什么的。 |

furnished。房子是yale一个教授
的，安息年出租给我们，离yale的shuttle line 8分钟，如果有车，这里离高速，还有
商店都很近，很方便。我们已经买了
自己的房子了，计划1月底搬出，目前lease到3月底，所以2月3月sublease，之后也可
以extend lease，month by
month可以一直住到夏天。4bed 2bath，ranch，1800sf，with washer／dryer，dish
washer，microwave，oven，etc， central A/C，heating，with back yard and a
big deck。电费和propane费用需

我这几天根据您两位的指导，对WoodBridge, Cheshire, Orange此三区作了重点比较
租房的价钱与买房的价钱比较下来，发现房租真是太贵了，基本上合乎我一家居住的两
居或三居就要1500以上了，而且一般至少租一年以上。所以我与老公商量的结果，想到
时趁暑假找个地方住几天，多处看房。我们从DC过来也不是太远。
我老公将在YALE上班，我在家，两个学龄儿童，我们的承受预算是350K左右，我重点查
了这个价位的三个TOWN的房子，比较了两天后感觉：
1. 三个城市排名，W第一，O第二，C第三。学校感觉平均排名差不太多
2. 我老公开车上班，W与O近点，C远点，感觉O去纽约比较方便，交通便利些。
3. 同价位的房子，C处漂亮些，O最老旧，W没什么惊艳
昨天正好遇上位从YALE过来的朋友，她言语间对C城更推荐（她当年是租房）。不过她
也说会联络以前的老朋友，或许能帮我推荐个房经纪，具体更多帮助。
我在C城与O城之间犹豫不决，具体到时看具体房子与学校的综合因素吧。

不管。你们知不知道国内新生新到一个世界，人生地不熟，struggle to get to the
dorm是多么的不易，有的同学连个住处都没有，在new haven这个治安臭名昭著的地方。
new haven airport开车就十分钟到学校，NY/NJ的机场是远些，不过你们可以开个大车
，约好几个日子一起接新生啊。
你们极不负责的行为给新生set a bad precedent,那就是自私自利，不管别人死活。以
后来的新生怎么办
2）每个Yale学生都交student activity fee (学生活动经费），学校收集后，下拨给
各个学生组织。请问每年这笔钱，你们学生会怎么用了，有没有公开经费，还是自己小
圈子吃吃喝喝了。
3）Yale本届学生会选举有没有公开公平举行，还是几个人禅让的。既然不做事，为啥
要霸占这个位置。为什么不公开选举，给有能力，想给大家服务的人去做，难道想霸着
位置等着遭天谴么。

个机场到YALE都是很方便的， 花点银子就有shuttle接送了，如果学生会网站有给新生
介绍交通安排的信息， 学生会在这个议题就能拿85分，如是， LZ要学生会干部下台就
有些过了。
在yale这个群英荟萃的校园， 学生会在安排接机方面也是能力有限的， 建议lz把原帖

是否事先联系过他们学生会成员而没有收到答复,或者有师兄师姐没给答复.楼上有人说
的也有道理,Internation Office可能在Offer Letter里提到过怎么来Yale.不论怎样,
首先恭喜LZ踏进了世界顶尖大学的门槛.虽然开始可能不近如意,但LZ一定会大有作为! |

（我想由于Yale学校的特殊性，当个学生会主席也许方便将来毕业回国招摇撞骗，像学
联，共青团，欧美学会的一些组织，当然也方便贪钱和个人办事。就是怕这些人占着位
置，啥事也不做。这个帖子只想促进些变化。毕竟Yale中国学生很多，大家刚来美国就
遇上这么冷漠的学生会，将来都不会帮助别人，都自求多福了，那真是中国人的悲哀）
希望下届学生会选举选上真正乐意为大家服务奉献的人。 |

发帖数: 941 | 50 我顶一下楼主，我的学校（中部）学生会是管接新生的，最近几年还补贴自愿者油钱和
停车费。我也接过新生，其实接新生不仅仅是接回来，之后几个礼拜需要FOLLOW UP,帮
助新生熟悉新的生活环境，给一些学习、生活方面的建议。我觉得这是一个好传统，尽
管Nisemono觉得是大家都是成年人不必要，但是作为海外中国学子，中国人之间互相帮
助是一件让人心温暖的好事，总是有人需要这种帮助的，如果available。
另外，我注册了MIT,HARVARD的mailing list三个月来，收到的各种活动的信息不是一
般的多（比如：https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?fromEmail=true&
formkey=dG5ZT3Q1Z2I4NUFIRDBueEEzUmlKRlE6MQ），当然yale的地理位置比较偏，但是
作为一所同等level的名校的学生会，不应
该一味地找EXCUSE，总不能什么意见也听不进去，我认为YALE的确有很大提升空间，期
