Hmm... If you are practicing carving, pretty much your entire bodyweight
should be on your outside ski. In fact, one of the first lessons is learn
to ski on one leg. You can try it on a gentle slope, ski down a little with
just one ski (lift the other ski off the ground). Now try to turn with
that...

The inner sole is detachable right? When I bought mine they heat molded the
inner sole to my feet. Basically they heat up the sole, and I have to
stand in them for about 10 minutes or so. Until it cools. They didn't do
this for your inner sole?
Of course maybe your pair of boots doesn't need to have this done, but most
boots of that caliber can have this treatment...

lol it's no big deal, wear it a few times and if you feel pain you can
always get it fitted at a different place. Maybe it'll cost you money thou
- which is why I like my ski shop -- if I don't like the fit they can do a
lot to make the sole fit better, and it's all free of charge!

To me there's no comparison. If you are interested in skiing and not
shopping, eating, walk around dressed fashionably... go to Alta.
If you are interested in the other stuff -- Park City is your place. :)
This is not to say that Park City is a bad resort -- it's got nice runs too,
but I would rate the Alta runs superior in just about every aspect over
Park City.

Scary eh. I'm not even gonna try snowboarding unless I get one of those
gloves with hand guards.
I'm expecting a painful first session... And I don't even own a helmet,
seriously, snowboarding is just so much trouble... lol

Yea that's why I want to try it -- it looks like a lot of fun.
Plus at my local crap ski resort, I figured instead of pointlessly make ski
runs, I may as well just try boarding and learn something new :)

Semi-confirmed group to SLC from 2/17 - 2/22. Already starting to get a
little excited... :)
Unfortunately, a boarder amongst us, so maybe have to say no to Alta... Nah
... boarder can stay in the lodge and drink beer... hohoho
May need to recruit a few more fun loving individuals (who doesn't mind
drinking heavily after (and maybe during) the ski/boarding session. Let me
know!

One of my roomates in college is Japanese and actually an alternate on their
Olympic ski team (he's from Saporo). I've learned quite a bit from him.
Only one I know who actually ski with leather (racing) ski gloves. heh
Lazy to correct ignorant ppl's statements. He obviously has never actually
skied before and just trying to start some fight. :)

Now he's going down a db with a wedge?

So just scrape the snow off the slope then? hehe Still, I've seen so many
beginners slows down to almost a stop... then suddenly fall face down onto
the snow with a nice THUD. I dunno, that looks like hurt. I guess I'll
find out how much hurt next time...

Most ski brands have women-specific models, so you can have more suitable
choices regarding to the length.
But like yoss said, you need to improve your skill first before thinking
about switching gear, : )

In fact, I'm pretty sure you don't even need skis or snow to go down with
your powerful wedgie technique...
All you need is imagination...

No clue what you are talking about, but I do suggest you google, wiki, or
yahoo what a "wedgie" is - since you appear to be the master at searching.
I know that it is inconceivable but you may actually learn a new
colloquialism.
Well, make that at least 2 new words, cuz I'm pretty sure just in these 3
sentences there are at least 2 words you do not know (maybe you THINK you
know but you don't -- not knowing one's ignorance is the true tragedy...)

lol I wouldn't worry too much about it, everyone is an expert on the
internet anyway and the anonymousity nature of the web brings out the worst
in some people who fail at life in general.
Anyway best way is just to walk away. I'm just looking for some like-minded
individuals here to maybe go ski together at different resorts, no point
getting angry over narcissistic morons who doesn't know any better, right?

What kind of thermo legging does everyone use? (if any)
I actually don't have any right now, but need to buy a pair - (got a really
sweet pair of ski pants shell given to me). My other pair of ski pants is
lined but I doubt I'd want to wear it in sub-zero temperature without some
additional lining.
A lot of people recommended under armor leggings (cold gear) to me, I went
to Dick's and they are $50... ouch.

Friend of mine had replacement ACL surgery as well 3 years ago, she got back
skiing after resting for a season. No problem at all.
The skiing part won't twist your knee, but if you are not careful and fall
down wrong, you can cause damage. Just be careful and you'll be fine. :)

has always been 2wd only.
I'd say that 4wd is nice but most ppl put way too much emphasis on it. Most
people can do just fine with 2wd, in fact I'm almost inclined to say that
4wd give people a false sense of security - when you are skidding on ice, it
doesn't matter if your car is 2wd or 10wd, the trick is to not go fast
enough to allow skid to happen.

Park City is more family oriented and more commericalized compared to Alta
and Snowbird.
I prefer Alta/Snowbird over Park City anyday.
