在1040 instruction里，有个worksheet to see if you should fill in form 6251 -
也就是1040的line 45。 那个worksheet里面，它让你加上你所有从itemized
deduction里面deduct 掉的钱，然后得出的总数减去你的tax refund。我能理解
itemized deduction里面因为deduct掉了state and local income tax, 所以第二年会
收到state and local tax refund, which is taxable and included in the gross
income next year, 但是今年的refund影响的是明年的income, 所以在今年填税表，用
上面我提到的worksheet时，减去的是今年得到的refund，也就是因为去年deduct掉了
state and local income tax吧，所以我不明白为什么从今年的itemiz | l****q

我在看2007年1040instruction的时候，看到36页上有个worksheet看这个纳税人是不是
需要file form 6251,也就是AMT。这个worksheet将那些在itemized deduction里
deduct掉的东西都加了回来，我明白，可是为什么要减掉tax refund？所以我在联想到
1040税表上将当年的tax refund是算作了income,这跟amt是什么直接的联系呢，导致将
其从amt的income里减去？难道就是因为不想double tax? 可是问题又来了，tax
refund其实是由上一年的state and local tax deduction而产生的，而在算今年的amt
时，加回去的是今年的state and local tax, 减的是今年的tax refudn,也就是去年
deduct的state and local tax。这是为什么？ | m******3

If you are subject to AMT, it will show additional AMT tax on your return.
AMT is usually for rich people with high schedule A deduction. Seldom see
any family needs to pay AMT and still hand calculate their tax return.
If you are studying tax, just study AMT section on the book instead of 1040
instruction. |
