I don't want to travel for all my life. Is there anyone in the internal
auditor side could share some thoughts. What kind of position I could take
after several years of internal auditor working experience. 我怕如果走上了这
个track, 将是一条不归路。It will be hard to make the work life balance.

some local companies that doesn't involve much travel. Also, almost all
companies will say you'll have opportunity to move to other business units,
so keep looking. |

position, but there is no interview for those position.
I am from financial service industry and I want to switch to other industry.
Now the internal auditor is not for financial service. I think maybe it is
a break point for me to transfer outside of the financial service.
I feel that I am not lucky, 4 years ago have to work for big 4, now have to
work for internal auditor, also not a good job. |

发帖数: 383 | 4 Hey seriously, if you don't need the money desperately or have visa issues,
don't rush. Be patient and keep looking, the economy's just starting to turn
around. Don't settle for anything less that will make you regret a couple
of months later.

Just be patient and try to find some local position. I do not think a couple
of months job hunting is a big problem for your family. Just enjoy the time
you can spend with your baby.

let's assume is a fortune 500 or SEC register) You can transfer to the SOX
group, they need people with Big 4 experience plus internal audit experience
. Financial Reporting (my director came from internal audit dept) or the
budgeting group. I hope it help! |

选择1是internal audit 知道的第二个从big4到internal audit了
选择2是 private equity 知道1个manager,1个fifth year都去一些“xxx capital"了。
我之前毕业的时候interview过一个major bank的internal audit的position
貌似是2年的program,做完可以选择换到其他department
到底internal audit做什么啊
是不是做的其实跟我们cotrol testing差不多？ observation, inquiry, etc? |

发帖数: 8 | 10 如果那是家大公司的话,通常做IA两到三年后就可以考虑转其他部门了，除非你自己选
择做career auditor。经济好的情况下，应该是不难找到公司内部的机会的。自己感觉
做IA可以学到accounting以外的其他许多东西，当然这还要看公司，有些公司的IA只偏
重做财务方面的审计，而有些公司更偏重于business operational process的审计，个
人喜欢后者。所以，从积累经验的角度，我觉得这是个挺不错的工作。
但是频繁的出差将会是工作的一部分。如果你还有个小宝宝的话，这对你来说将是个很
大的挑战。如果你常常不能出差，那肯定会影响到你的工作业绩。
我觉得IA对于结了婚或是有了孩子的人并不是很适合。

发帖数: 8 | 12 财务方面的审计,和external audit的有些类似,但看问题的角度不同,更多的是从
internal control的角度去看。
至于operational process audits, it depends on which industry it is. I have
no idea about banking industry。
但是我本人做过的项目有些可以学到不少东西的，such as new product introduction
audit, supply chain management audit, new venture integration audit, etc. I
would say it takes a while to get familiar with those processes if you come
from outside. That's why usually companies prefer hiring internal auditors
internally as it may take less time for them
