face will make a big difference. Talk slower during the phone interview.
Listen carefully before starting to response. You may repeat the question in
a different manner to gain some time to think.
Most time, phone screen is trying to see if you have the essential
communication skills. You may have your resume, prepared the answers for
canned questions and other background information in front of you. But do
NOT read note.

explain why do you like health, meaning you need to know the basic
characteristics of health, how is it different from other areas, and what
attracts you the most(1 hr research on actuarialoutpost would do it).
you should also know current events related to health like the healthcare
reform and the budget cut in Medicare Advantage. When I interviewed I also
read SOA newsletters on Health section so I could refer to some of

absolutely do no harm to the interview with the basic knowledge of health
care industry. I would say that the communication is more important than the
knowledge. Do more practice should help.

interested in health care industry and has done reseach on it. i think this
is expected from the employers from my experience especially in this tough
economy.
it's hard to enhance your communication skills in a short time, and it seems
LZ has done plenty of interviews. At this point, knowing more and being
able to deliver it at the right time could make the difference since you
never know what questions will be asked by t
