发帖数: 6 | 1 趁现在还没有忘记，写一点用过的各种考试Manual的一点体会。这里只谈Manual, 不谈
去参加Live Seminar。但是TIA (The Infinity Actuary) 是Online Seminar, 所以又
不是完全的只是Manual。
要声明的是每个人都不太一样，所以只是一点个人的体会。我不喜欢的也许正满足你的
需要也说不准，虽然这种可能性很小。
完全打中文太累了，就只好一会中文一会英文了。大家凑和着看看吧：-）
现在市面上的主要的Manual有：
(1) TIA （The Infinity Actuary): Exam 5-9，Manual加上Online Seminar。
The best manual and online seminar for exam 5 and 6. No one does it better
than Ken Fikes. Fikes is very detailed, very organized, and is passionate
about teaching, although he could be slow in updating new materials.
The other instructor Angela is very good at simplifying a difficult concept
and gives you concrete examples, although you may not like his handwriting
or feel he is not organized. Sometimes he makes mistakes, not very big
mistakes though.
强烈推荐 for Exam 5 and 6. But it can be very expensive if not paid by your
company.
没用过，不知道他们的exams 7和9的Manual.
Manual for Exam 8 is very good with Angela being the main instructor. But
Another instructor just reads over his manual in a flat， boring voice and
made some mistakes when a new paper about multivariate credibility came out
in 2011. I listened to it to help me sleeping.
You need to print the manual yourself after downloading from their website.
You can watch/listen to the online Seminar over and over again,
Free access next year if you fail this year.
(2) All 10: Exam 5-9，Manual加上Live Seminar。
强烈不推荐。It is printed on the worst paper, many typos, never updated,
gives practice exams with many typos and errors. Many pages are literally
cut and pasted from the textbook or paper. I would not use it again even if
they pay me to do so.
(3) Goldfarb: Exam 9 only，Manual加上Live Seminar。
Best manual I have ever used. It tells you all the important concepts. It
shows you the subtle difference between confusing concepts. It lists and
shows detailed solutions for all the difficult questions. One shortcoming is
that it does not give you the complete list of all old exam questions.You
have to put the old questions together yourself.
You need to print the manual yourself after downloading from his website.
Free manual next year if you fail this year.
(4) Jon Fox: Exam 8 and 9，Manual加上Live Seminar。
Fox Exam 8 manual is the best of all manuals for exam 8. He knows the
materials and his problems sets are best. If you solve his problems well, it
is a guarantee until 2011 :-). His flashing cards for the theoretically
topics are good, but it seems his selections of the topics can be improved.
Fox Exam 9 manual is new, starting this year 2012 with a new guy. Hopefully
he holds his reputation.
(5) Hoffmann (Math Tiger): Exam 7,8 and 9 Manual加上Live Seminar。
Exam 9:太一般了，基本上就是一大纲(list of points)，还很偏。模拟题也很一般。
不值得花那个钱和时间。
Exam 7 and 8:没用过，不知道
(6) New England Seminar:Exam 5-9，Manual加上Live Seminar。
没用过，不知道
总结：
Exam 5: TIA is the best, especially with Ken Fikes as the instructor.
Exam 6: TIA is the best, especially with Ken and Angela as instructors.
Exam 7: New exam, no experience. Do not know.
Exam 8: Jon Fox is the best.If possible, combine with TIA 8.
Exam 9: Goldfarb is the best. Peroid. | k********y
