worked fine until last week, out of nowhere, an error message poped up
asking for system restore. tried restore a few times, hit error 23 on all
of them. Apple store couldn't fix it and had to replace the unit.
now the dilemma is should I JB the new unit. the main point of JB is not
about getting free software, but to allow unlock, allow tethering, and allow
none app store software (backgrounder, Mplayer...)

i guess you should be very picky after jailbreaking, so that you do not add
any bad programmed applications.

apps? so you think it's not the JB itself killed the iphone but some bad
apps?

it is hard to see what apps are bad, maybe it is a good idea only to
install those famous apps
yes, i think jb itself is fine --- just some apps made it die
of course, i could be wrong
i think the following can be trustable: backgrounder, pdanet, 3g
unrestrictor
this is my bottom line for jailbreaking

while as long as it's restorable. error 23 is too deadly that even apple
can do nothing.
I'll probably stay JB free for a while.
