there were any this kind of commercial world phones in US? I know there
are plenty in China though.
Except if it can make a special loyalty agreement with Qualcomm, it
doesn't make much sense for Apple making this kind of phones. At least
two reasons. 1) CDMA chipset is expensive in general, since its eco-
system is not very healthy. 2) You need pay more CDMA loyalties to
Qualcomm . Now Apple indeed pays Qualcomm CDMA loyalty on its CDMA
iphones only, I guess. If Apple makes this kind of dual-mode iphones, it
means it need pay the dollars on every iphone it is going to make, even
though the users only use GSM networks in the future.
Though it is a nice-to-have feature, I feel Apple can sell more phones
and make more money if it manufactures GSM and CDMA phones separately.
At least AT&T doesn't want it. Maybe it is only for VZW or China or
...... I can be wrong though.
