If Jobs were still alive, he might be able to shove the bold idea down the

going to be a boost in employment that's actually good for the economy in
the long run.

Microsoft did it in the PC revolution, although not mostly through donations
. MS was sued every day, so what? It's just life for being a dominant leader
. In other words, it's a good problem to have.

A better way to do that would be to offer a $300 credit to anyone trading
in iPad 2, and donate all of the received iPad 2 to schools.

they might just raise teacher and administrator pay. Worse, if they are not
smart enough, they might go out and buy more PCs or cheap Android knockoffs
. That would be missing the point, and a huge opportunity wasted.
