发帖数: 19471 | 9 It's very simple. there's a 16 digit Device Authentication Number (DAN), or
know as "token", that gets transmitted to the NFC terminal. Certain fields
in that number indicate this is an Apple Pay transaction. As soon as the
terminal sees that, Rite Aids acquirer bank sees that, too. And if the
acquirer has received directive from Rite Aid to not process Apply Pay
transactions, a rejection message is generated and transmitted back to the
terminal.
By the way, this is the poorest business decision I've seen in a loooong
time.

发帖数: 492 | 11 Exactly. Both rite aid and Walgreen is one block from my apt. I can choose
either one. But rite aid's deliberate shutdown Apple pay is just a bad
business decision that ignores customers benefit and choice.
Rite aid is not only disgusting it also stupid. Let Apple pay work for a few
days, then turn it off, just make the customers aware that this is not an
issue of compatibility.
