My car is RDX. Last time when I had oil change with my dealer, they
recommended that I have the cabin filter and engine air filter replaced,
which would cost about $175 in total. I decided not to do it because I think
the price was a little bit high.
I googled and found some guide on how to DIY it. It seems to be pretty
simple. I called a few auto service plants today and asked how much they
would charge for the filters replacement. They all asked for more for the
cabin filter change and less for the engine air filter change. This is weird
to me since I learned from the internet that the cabin filter change should
be much easier than the engine air filter change. Is it true? Or, I missed
something? Isn't it true that cabin filter is just behind the glove box on
the passenger's side? |

a/c system. It's directly related to your health so don't be too mean about
that. Replace it every year is a great option. You can buy both filters in
walmart for around $30-50 total. No need to buy from stealer. |

important to my health. Is it the reason why they charge more to replace the
cabin filter than to replace the engine air filter? Is it OK if I DIY it? Or, do I have to ask a professional technician to do it for me since this is so important to my health? Thanks again.

general, engine air filter is easier to change comparing w/ cabin AC filter.
Engine air filter requires taking a few screws out from the air filter box
first. For some cars, it's even simpler as they are metal clips instead of
screws. No tool required to open the air filter box.
Typical cabin filter require you to take out the glove box which may
involves screw driver use and carefully removing a few other parts. After
you replace the filter, it may be a bit tricky to put glove box back as the
damper for the glove box needs to be installed correctly.
Neither is difficult to DIY.

用我的acura来说，都是一把螺丝刀就够了。
engine的话，打开盖子，右手边那个电池旁边的四方盒子，4颗罗斯，拿起来。放入新
的filter。
如果是自己的车子的话，建议用K&N的filter，可以重复使用，比用纸的好多了。

cabin 的话，就在passenger side的抽屉下面。螺丝刀将那个hood拿掉，两边的clutch
取走，放下那个抽屉。然后就大概能看到，拉出来，换新的，推进去。然后就可以了。
一般carbon都可以不换，如果没有什么异常味道。 |
