well, at least in the case of chevy volt, the requirement for changing both
the engine oil and filter is no more than 2 years, see manual page 10-12

in reality, most people do the first oil change after 20k miles. I've driven
my car for 6700 miles, the oil life is estimated at 70%. so it will take
roughly 6700/(1-0.7)=22k miles for me to do the first oil change (and filter
change).
In the case of all plugin hybrids, the more you use your battery, the less
frequent you need to do an oil change.

that was exactly my point. without knowing what car it was, nobody can tell
the OP the appropriate frequency for oil (and filter) change.
