you risk lugging the engine, causing pinging and excessive
carbon deposit.
rev the engine doesn't hurt it: the damn thing is designed
to be rev'd. Redlining the engine does hurt it tho.
if you always run the engine at close to redline rpm, you
can cause excessive enginer wear and gas mileage suffers.
my normal shift point is 30mph/50mph/65mph.
in a spirited drive, it is 35mph/65mph/75mph. on the
highway, i usually cruise in 5th, and pass in 4th or 3rd. |
