just opened one with my passport with bank of china this past summer.
avoid a small bank branch where the bank clerks have never dealt with people
with passport. go to a bigger branch. at first, i went to a small branch
near where i stayed and was turned down. i then went to a bigger one in
downtown and got the bank card. |

advanced than usa where you have to wait your card to come in the mail a few
days later after you open your account.
i am not 100% sure about your status in US, but from your original post, you
seem to have GC. if this is true, then you are 华侨.
华侨 are not supposed to have chinese 身份证 nor chinese 户口; they use
chinese passport to do things in china including opening bank accounts. i
had to educate the bank clerks in china about this. i hope some people here
also get this education.
if you are still in doubt, check bank of china's website, and you will see
what i am talking about. |

发帖数: 2153 | 11 YES. Just confirmed from my parents's police station. GC holders now are
required to remove your 户口.I am not sure whether u can get a 身份证(sounds
unlikely). Passport is your office ID, the same as 身份证.
