Actually, Sprint iphone 4 S uses a sim card, as I just checked on the
website (see what's in the box):

can be unlocked for use in other countries. Just call them when needed.
Iphone 4, on the other hand, can't be unlocked. |

told to use only 128k SIM card for 4S when in China.
It seems only China Mobile has this 128kSIM card that is compatible with
iphone 4s. Will find out soon. |

发帖数: 64 | 21 Online chat with a sprint agent. He had to file a request to Apple (this is
a must step). Several hours later, when I connected the phone to my computer
, Itunes detected it and says "congratulations, your iphone has been
unlocked". I didn't do any backup of contact and photos stored in the phone.
(Note that I was not asked to backup any files and the phone did not power
cycle, it just showed the above message. After the first time plug on, I
didn't plug off and on again)
Here is what the guy wrote to me during our chat:
I have submitted the unlock request to Apple. After 1 hour you will need to
follow these steps: - In iTunes on the left hand column right-click on the
iPhone and choose backup the phone will backup all contacts,pics,videos,
apps etc. -Unplug the phone from PC, the phone will power cycle. -Plug
the phone back into PC and on the right hand side of the screen you click on
"RESTORE" -The Phone will restore to factory default and download updates
.You can then choose to restore the backup to get back contacts and apps,
etc. Once you have those done, you will then be able to use only 128K GSM
SIM cards in the phone when you are traveling outside the US.
