the sport of badminton. Founded in 1934 as the International Badminton
Federation (IBF) with nine member nations (all European). BWF now represents
169 member nations.
Among the past Presidents of IBF, all except one(Indonesia) are from Europe
before 1993. Lu Shengrong from China served as President 1993–2001.
Thailand and Korean served as the immediate past and current President.
IBF's headquarter was in UK since its founding, but on October 1, 2005, was
relocated to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. On September 24, 2006, at the
Extraordinary General Meeting in Madrid, it was decided to adopt the new
name Badminton World Federation (BWF)

Malaysia and UK are countries with strong tradition in badminton, where its
headquarter was/is located. I suppose China could have competed to be the
new headquarter for BWF back in 2005. | b********s
