pujols sells for this team, the ownership knows if they lost pujols by
being cheap, they lose significant attendance and end up hurting their
revenue.

after 2011?). I see no chance that he would sacrifice his salary for
the "greater good" of the team. If I have to make a guess, I think his
contract might be like 240/8.
At this rate, Cards might do better trading him to Yankees/RSox or
some team with financial flexibility than keeping

trade pujols at his highest value for several decent players. this on
paper could make the the team better, as one player can only do so much.
but i think the management knows better, if they lost pujols, people will
stop paying to see games, and they lose revenue, which to them tops
winning.

a large portion of the fan base will be angry if we lose pujols and they
will stop buying tickets. stl has the best fans in baseball, or so they
claim, but they can only take so much.
