about how to build a pitching rotation and consigned them to the Museum of
Pointless Antiquities.
By opening the vault and hauling out $120 million, the Phillies added one of
baseball's best pitchers, Cliff Lee, to a rotation that already includes
two bonafide aces in Roy Halladay and Roy Oswalt, a potential superstar in
Cole Hamels and a solid citizen in Joe Blanton. "There are maybe 15 or 20 No
. 1 starters in the whole sport," said Stan Kasten, the former president of
the Atlanta Braves and Washington Nationals. "Having two is phenomenal. If
you have three you will go into most games favored to win. And four? Come on
."
What the Phillies do have is enormous depth. All four of the team's pitchers
had an ERA+ last year at least 30% better than the league average.

去年费力赢了好几场1：0。
除了Doc和Lee，别人都不是能投9局的材料。
今年bullpen是平均三局丢三分的水平，菲利要每场得5分，不太容易。

you are saying that Phillies bullpen will have a 9.00 ERA.
That is unheard of. I do not see how that can happen.
This Phillies bullpen is not great. But it is capable of
posting a 4.0 ERA through the season. That is probably good
enough.
The problem really is the hitting. Phillies lineup sucks.

anything can happen. If the hitters couldn't generate more than 4 runs,
I really doubt the Phillies' bullpen can hold it.
A World Series calibrated team should not have significant weakness, now
they have two short legs: the lineup & the bullpen. |
