demonstrated they are willing to spend by matching Lowry?
Here's my guess:
If Yao goes down again and the Rockets look hopeless, they will move
Jefferies or even Battier before deadline for nothing to avoid the tax.
If Yao comes back to power and the Rockets look hopeful, they will trade
Jefferies and picks for further upgrade (likely take on even more salaries)
to push for th conference final.
That's why you need flexibility.

appreciate the unshakable faith he has in the plan we laid out in Feb.
I do think Les is worth a little compliment this time. When the team is due
above the Luxury threshold, paying $6M for a backup PG is kind of generous.

cap space to chase Scola. If no team touches Scola, in the very end Houston
will get him very cheap.
I would rather Houston offer him $7M/year outright now. But it seems Morey
likes to do it on the market place.

with another team. When the Cav's offer Lowry $6M/year, they do want to pay
him $6M/year.
