I want to pursue a lifetime career in cancer research.
Specifically, I want to become a professor at Harvard University
after my postdoctoral training in your lab.
Short-term goals (2012-2014)
1. Apply for postdoctoral fellowships
2. Obtain state-of-the-art training in your lab
3. Execute some dumb ideas and publish lousy results in Nature
4. Apply for the NIH Pathway to Independence Award (K99/R00)
To achieve these goals, I will work 40 hours a day, 365 days a week,
mostly at home. Blah...blah...blah...
Long-term goals (2014-beyond)
1. Apply for a faculty position at Harvard University
2. Excel in my area as a successful professor
To achieve these goals, I will kiss some asses, particularly of big bulls,
one after another. Blah...blah...blah...

发帖数: 1837 | 6 career goal主要是要看看你做博后的目标是什么，是混混资历去工业界呢，还是要拼
命出paper申faculty。不同目标主观能动性可以差很多。
近期计划是要看看你独立思考的能力。比较好的postdoc老板是不会给你强加课题的，
你要能根据自己的兴趣发展独立项目。

发帖数: 1089 | 13 说实话，这种申请薄厚都需要你写个正式career goal的，多半并不在乎你具体的goal
是什么，怎么实现。我感觉很多老板都是通过写这个东西判断和检验你。
一看你是不是没有什么大目标，这种的很有可能混日子。所以管他什么，最好都写要当
faculty。
二来看你对人生有没有一个详细的设计。一般有目标有计划的人对自己的人生设计也是
明确的。所以不论是什么目标，一定要每一步要做什么，怎么实现，怎么提高自己，都
需要写明。
至于跟他们课题结合多紧密，我觉得不是关键。
