发现关于beta cell stem/progenitor cell的争论还挺热闹的。
顶尖杂志上经常你来我往灌水争论这个progenitor cell到底存在不存在。
04年Melton DA组的一片nature用了Insulin的reporter mice做了genetic tracing，说
新生的beta cell都是从existing beta cell长出来的，
但08年Xiaobo Xu的Cell比较清楚的证明了progenitor cell的存在，
11年3月的Simon R. Smukler的cell stem cell和说这个细胞是存在的，而且直接说
Melton当年nature paper里面的老鼠有问题。不过看了11年CSC的文章从submit到接受
用了差不多两年，不知道是不是业内反对派的能量太大啊？
CSC配了一片previews，看上去也是各种抹稀泥，各打五十大板，
说progenitor cell是存在的，但是differentiated beta cell自己duplicate也是存在
的。
我一外行，只能看热闹看不出门道来，
有没有在这个领域里的大牛出来给八卦八卦科普科普？

in most of the adult stem cell field...The issue comes out in many of our
meetings with field experts on site to the point I question whether the
argument has any real value...personally some fights are of interest while
the other might not, too literally less useful...one might appreciate more
of this kind once one has a broad appreciation of the field or start to work
in the field...and it might change...to give an example(not exactly the correct one here though), on muscle satellite/stem cells, about 6 ys ago, one prominent stem cell biologist(I am sure that many on this board knows him) went a long way to correct me saying muscle satellite cells are not stem cells...when I stated that in my application to his group...by now, I am not sure whether he has changed his mind or not...likely yes but who knows...

发帖数: 61 | 5 这里都是行家。借宝地一问：有人做过从胰腺导管细胞（人或鼠，最好是人）体外加点
细胞因子之类的让它变成所谓的ILC吗（胰岛样细胞簇）？文献上的Protocol我们自己
能查到，想向亲自实践过的大侠们请教一二。 | w********r

Existing beta cell dublication and progenitor cell differentiation are
totally two concepts. For the name of muscle satellite cell/primary myoblast
/muscle stem cell, we are also confused. So we call them "muscle progenitor
cell" in our recent paper... lol
