120 | 8 My suggestion is to figure out what is the real problem in the proposal. I
saw 40% got it in resubmission. When it is 30%-40%, there are two
possibilities:
1. It is a good one but there are some key issues not solved. I read it but
this is the right score. They are good grant but also with problems. When
they fix it, I respect it. This happen every once a while.
2. It is a very bad one. I may not really read the whole thing. I score it
by select a few things to complete my duty. As you see, every one know how
to write grant now. Many proposals look so good and I cannot even find a
way to trash them. However, they are trash. So it does not mean that's all
the problem on the reviewers' comments. Next round, I can easily find more
(I am allowed). Frankly, this is very common. 40% to 35% to 30% to 25%...
.In my mind, this is not a fundable project. No matter how many time one
can try, my job is to ensure money not on this kind of grant.
My own recent grant also got 30%. I actually knew the problem beofer. But
I had to submit for reasons. Now I know how to fix it. I will need a few
more data before resub. |
H****N 发帖数: 997 | 9 Of course you should re-submit. Try to address all the critiques, but with a
focus on the important ones. Don't rush back in if you are asked for more
preliminary data and you need time to get that done. |
r*******y 发帖数: 48 | 10 no doubt that you should resubmit, but anything could happen, including that
you may even get a worse score than the one for your 1st submission,
particularly when they change reviewers, and the new reviewers conducted
totally inconsistent reviews of your resubmission. I myself, and some PIs I
know, have this kind of experience.
Also, although NIH does not require you should resubmit it within one year,
I suggest you do so. I ever resubmitted one beyond one year, and one major
reviewer said something bad about the delay of resubmission, and my proposal
was totally killed. this is just my personal experience, but it should be
helpful for junior investigators. |
