me what do I need before I install joomla? Server? Domain? Hosting?
Can someone also tell me is joomla really for rookie? I don't even know what
's the purpose of getting server, domain,hosting....

service so he is a server and you are a client;
server 2, is your restaurant. Your restaurant provides food services so it
is a server and Internet visitors are the clients;
Assume your website provides contents (articles, videos, pictures etc) to
visitors. Then
Joomla is like dishes that contain food.

To make sure, I need to purchase the server before I install Joomla. But can
purchase the domain and hosting after I'm done with the website. Is it
correct?

means you have the hosing. You need a domain or at least a temporary url to
visit your website, otherwise how can you see your website?
If you are looking for a hosting company,there is some info in this post:

Because joomla site runs on PHP and MySQL, you want to use linux hosting.

What do you mean by "you want to use linux hosting"? My system is Windows
Vista. Do you mean I have to get linux?

发帖数: 983 | 6 不用，windows也可以，下载xmap安装上，mysql,apache,php就都有了。Joomla解压缩
（有index.php的那一层）到apache的文档根目录（./htdocs）, 浏览器输入http://localhost，然后按页面说明安装就行了 |

XAMPP装完了，貌似control panel是工作的，但为啥我在浏览器里输入“http://localhost”显示“It Works!”？
我是不是没装好？
鼓捣一晚上也没把joomla装上...撞墙... |

发帖数: 202 | 8 上面那位大俠說的是在你自己的local computer上面這麽設置，模擬一個server環境，
然後用http://localhost訪問測試在你自己電腦上的網站。如果你購買的是1and1的linux hosting，不需要安裝xampp。把joomla的文件上傳導server的web目錄（不確定具體名字是什麽）下面，然後要麽用1and1送你的域名，或者用那個public的url，訪問你的空間，joolma自帶的安裝文件會引導你一步步地安裝（事先在1and1裏面新建一個數據庫）。

It Works!是apache的默认网页，要么是你没有把joomla解压缩到apache的文档目录里
，要么你打http://localhost/index.php试一下

发帖数: 983 | 10 哈哈，Server选了1&1， 原来不是要装在自己机器里阿，那别瞎倒腾拉
连上1&1的ftp，把joomla传到ftp的public_html下面，浏览器敲你的域名就好啦

发帖数: 76 | 11 各位显然高估我的水平了，你们讲的我基本上没大明白。不过我发现1&1有个click n
build功能，貌似能一键安装joomla。
弱智问题又来了，如果我现在填了web name是不是以后就改不了？domain name好像是
joomla assign的，但可以填一new subdomain，这是干啥滴？我要填吗？填了还能改吗？
