p | g**p 发帖数: 32 | 2 It seems that you already have a successful career. Why do you want to
pursue an MBA? How will an MBA enhance your career? What do you want to do
after MBA? These are the questions you must ask yourself before you make the
commitment. | u**********n 发帖数: 83 | 3 Thanks. I will take that as an compliment. :)
You brought up a good point. I haven't really thought it through why I
wanted an MBA and how it can benefit my career. I guess I wanted a career
change. I want to get into the fancy industries such as IB, PE, etc... Also
, I was hoping that an MBA from a top university will somehow do me some
good down the road.
So I would appreciate any insights and comments. Thanks. | j*****t 发帖数: 5475 | 4 Makes sense to go for an MBA if your goal is career change - as long as you
ar prepared for the worst scenario, i.e. two year's of compensation gone and
no guarantee to land a job in IB/PE.

Any ideas of how hard it is to get into a top MBA program? Thanks.

on post-MBA options. Thanks for pointing it out.
I am with a bank on Wallstreet, providing commercial real estate financing,
but what I do has little to do with Wallstreet... :( From what I heard, IB
and PE are fancy. Not sure what would entail to become a I-Banker, or if I
really want to be one. But I know I don't want to stay in my current
industry anymore, and am trying to figure out a way out. Plus, I am trying
t | d******g 发帖数: 62 | 8 Not to dampen your enthusiasm for MBA, but few industries care about the CFA
designation. That probably explains why CFA exams are much more popular in
Asian countries than in USA.
Asset Management is one of the few industries that value the CFA designation
, but it will not take this as an entering prerequisite anyway. By the way,
Asset Management is harder to get into than IB.
When you say you don't want to stay in your current industry, make sure that
you are not actually just bored of your c

| u**********n 发帖数: 83 | 9 Dididong, I really appreciate your insight. I guess I am gonna give MBA a
try. :) Worse case scenario, I will continue to do what I am doing right now
after getting MBA, but hopefully MBA will open more doors for me. But
thank you for your inputs. They are really helpful. |
