student. Finance industry is worse than computer science industry now. If you
want to go for this major, in general, your future job will be an option
trader or similar job. If you want to go to back office, companies are likely
to hire PhD in Math or Physics. For trading job, you can ask around to see how
hard to get. If you decide to go to business, go to study MBA. Don't waste

发帖数: 70 | 2 我所知道的情况跟你说的一样, 什么math finance的master program一点都
不好找工作. 我刚从数学的Ph.D program里quit掉(也是math finance方向),
准备去念个computational finance的master, 现在很担心毕业以后能不能
找到工作. 不过没办法了,主要是因为gf,而且毕竟我去的这个program还有全奖.
我一直不太想得通,为什么Street上宁愿要数学物理的Ph.D,我老板的前一个学生
就是去了Wall Street,当然他很牛了,不过听说现在一样是做些四则运算,根本用
不上我们做research时那些随机偏微分方程的东西.就我个人感觉,我做了三年的
math finance方向的research,如果不quit就等着写paper拿Ph.D了, 我实在不觉得
数学Ph.D学的东西里有什么能在financial industry里用得上的,一天到晚看证明.
念了几年对finance到底是啥都没概念.而我要去的这个computational finance program,
课程设计挺应用的,我自己看了一下课本,都觉

颇有一些正面评价的，怎么过了一年，评价变这么差了.
btw,你们是否考虑过这些专业以后回国工作的可能性?据我所知，
现在国内银行还不怎么用这一套，有些证券公司里一些搞数学的在弄，
不过好象也没什么大作用，不知道三五年之后会不会开始吃香了.

发帖数: 40 | 4 At any time, don't go to predict what major will be hot in the future. Don't
be too realistic. You can never guess the trend of the market. It is just like
trading, you can never beat the market. Try to get to know what you are really
interested. If you are really interested in finance math, just go for it.
Maybe you cannot get a job at the beginning, but eventually, your interests
will give you chance to let you stand up.
Maybe a lot of ppl went to study accounting since it was hot before. Now
