发帖数: 129 | 1 大家好，我正在读美国top tier大学的工程类硕士，年底毕业的，
想报考MBA而且是top b-school，希望能够如愿。问题是看了
这个板块后发现工作经验，成绩都被认为是最重要的元素之一。
我的弱点如下：
1。硕士成绩糟糕，心里实在没有兴趣读这些工程的东西，所以
gpa低到3.0外加我觉得没有老师愿意写信。但我可以找到以前的
supervisor写信，可以写的不错。
32。没有GMAT,也不想准备，因为觉得那个很浪费时间，我好不容
易找到想走的路，可是这个GMAT,可能会让我雪上加霜，因为我的
英语考GRE的时候就是非常低，300来分而已。
3。没有工作经历，但可写的有在top tier I-bank的一个暑期
实习。
我想去top tier B-school, 但是这3个障碍，如何面对和应付？
各位什么意见，尽管砸过来！！！！！ |

2。（你gre英语300还进了top tier? 牛人啊)没有gmat人家都不理你，还是考一个，非
常容易，没有词汇，就是考阅读能力还有语法，拿本儿barron's或者princeton review
一个月搞定
3。 这个是你最大的问题，你要想想你在那个ib做的什么，好好写出两个很nb的bullet
point,另外你读书时候又没有可以用的经验？什么个事情都可以把它吹成很nb的经验

然后打入希拉里选举阵营，
然后保佑希入住白宫，之后就可以进哈佛了。没上过大学都不要紧。 |

lack of work experience is your biggest problem. 1) and 2) are really
nothing.
with 3), even if you get admitted to a top program, getting placed upon
graduation will be a big problem for you as well.
I would say that you stay in your program, graduate, work a couple years and
then re-apply for a top program. Your chance of getting into such a program
and more importantly getting out such a program will be much better then.
At that point, the high costs of going through a top b-school are worth

那个校外的活我倒是干了不少,也许是应该好好吹吹了.

My concern is that I always see people go b-school right after their
undergraduate. They don't have working experience which kind of encourages
me to do the same thing. One of my supervisor once said that b-school had a
diversified student body.
If I go work after graduation, how can I quit the job later and go full time
MBA? That's really a lot to give up and to commit to cuz my family will
need my job...any say?

purpose. For those people who go b-school right after undergraduate, they
are elite students who are both very good at study and extracurricular
activities. Some schools have such scholar program to attract promising
undergrats. I have interviewed several of them last year and they were very
very impressive. Based on your self-description, sorry but I have to say
your chance of getting in a top-tier school is very very slim

a
it is very difficult to place students with no prior work experience out of
a mba program. your employer would expect you to be an immediate contributor
. no working experience makes that difficult to deliver.
it is possible not not often done.
time
you can always quit your job when you want.
you may also have the opportunity to go e-mba at that point, which if you
are not considering a career change, may be the way to go.

Wharton, I know they screen candidates to different categories by GMAT/
Under GPA unless you can really BS to impress your interviewer that you are
a genius without good scores....

天，都那么难啊。你博士读的是什么呢？
关于GRE,我发现当初录取我的学校里都没有很在意，我现在系里的系主任和我说，
当初他考得是bottom 10%,我说我不如您，他说cheers...
至于读mba,我的理由是我对于商科完全没有概念，那些M&A,Ibank的业务，我也一点都
不懂，
甚至连financial accounting 都不会。但现在的我，却是对于这个方向很有兴趣，而
且觉得读理工科的智慧和勤奋用过来这边会让我的人生更加精彩，所以我想读这个mba,
而且我皮毛的以为这是进入这些行业的敲门砖。 |

It seems that for Wharton, the program sometimes just ask their FT students to interview the applicants. GMAT is not the most important thing (as long as you pass 700 or close to that range), your undergraduate school, GPA and work experience are more important
criteria... |

directly to business school after undergrad. he got a
full time offer but decided to ding us to be an enegy
trader.

career change via a mba program isn't easy, and mostly not viable.
when people pay for that much money for someone with an mba degree, they
want them to hit the road and run right away. without prior work experience,
especially highly specialized knowledge in some industries, you will be at
a significant disadvantage.
is it possible? sure. is it probable? no. |

2008USnews 的bschool的排名会开始用新的方法计算。GMAT的比重占的很大
如果学校要好的排名，绝对不会忽视GMAT的
你的supervisor如果是academic的， 写的信没有多打用处
